FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2015 35 You gave us a challenge and we not only met it, we exceeded it! After our last performance, Laugh Out Loud, we heard from many of you that it was the best show the Performing Arts Club ever put on! We pulled our combined talents (along with new folks joining us… yeah!) and we've put together a hysterical show to surpass our last one… Friday Night Live! being performed — Friday, March 20 at 6 pm. I didn't steer you wrong last time, so I strongly suggest you mark your calendar to make sure you don't miss this. Your friends & neighbors will definitely be talking about this show for days. The seating will be a combination of entertainment style, row seating with peripheral tables for those wanting to bring in their dinners/beverages to eat/drink during the multi-act comedy. Come early to assure yourself a good seat. Heed my words, you have been warned! I've been to rehearsals and it's already really, really funny! Now a few words from the Producer of our always beloved Radio Shows… "Don't touch that dial! We are about to go ON THE AIR with another great evening of "Old Time Radio." That's right, mark your calendars for Saturday, May 30. Yes, I'm a bit early with my announcement but there's a good reason… I would like you to think about becoming involved in the show, yourself. Perhaps you have been in the audience during one of our shows and thought, "That looks like fun… I think I'd like to do that." Well, here's your chance. We'll be having auditions at the end of April and I would like to invite you to be there. We will be posting the dates in the April Breeze, so please look for it and make plans to attend. If it looks like fun, that's because it is! And, remember, no memorizing and very few rehearsals! You carry your script on stage (this is radio, remember?). Come on down, we'll be looking for you. ~ Tom Shelley In addition to these two shows, there's also the Patriotic/Americana show in July, the PG-55+ Comedy Revue in August, another Radio Show in October, and the ever popular Holiday shows in December. Of course, depending on the availability of the Ballroom on Friday nights, we may still surprise you with a Friday Fun Night to enjoy. If you have any of your own ideas for the type of entertainment you'd like to see, please bring it to my attention. Any questions, contact me at, (951) 992-9156. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Performing Arts Club At our meeting at 9:30 am on March 10 we will discuss The Giver by Lois Lowry. While Ms Lowry is considered a children/young adult writer, The Giver's themes are mature enough for very interesting discussions for adults as well. Besides, we readers at Four Seasons are very young at heart. Amazon tells us that: "The Giver, the 1994 Newbery Medal winner, has become one of the most influential novels of our time. The haunting story centers on 12-year-old Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community. Lois Lowry has written three companion novels to The Giver, including Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son." Our meetings are open to any interested resident readers and we would love to have you join us. ~ Patty Jordan Book Club
