In November 2014 thieves cut through a chain link fence
and then a lock on a storage container at Yucaipa High School
(YHS) to steal a Finishlynx timing system and Microtab LED
scoreboard, together valuing $16,000.
A police report for the theft was taken, but so far the
stolen property has not been recovered. Having this type
of timing equipment (along with 3 Citrus Belt League titles)
distinguishes YHS from many other Southern California
High Schools. Without the timing system, YHS track is
unable to accurately time the many league meets it hosts,
including CBL finals, and is at risk of losing the ability to
host them.
This equipment was originally acquired with funds
raised by student athletes and the community. Due to this
unfortunate event, we are again looking to the community
for help with replacing these valuable stolen items.
YHS administration looked into filing an insurance claim,
however, due to a high deductible on the policy it was not
feasible to pursue that option.
