Message from the Chairman Keys to success: Success is Not the Key to Happiness - Happiness is the Key to Success. (Love what you do) Integrity: Demonstrate values in what you say and do. When we work with Integrity we are sincere and true to ourselves. People will trust and respect us resulting in solid business relationships. Those positive feelings build our reputation leading us to greater success, not only in business but in all aspects of our life. Preparation and knowledge: Prepare, prepare, prepare. To succeed, you must be ready when the opportunity presents itself. Know your market, product and the needs of your customers. Ninety percent of businesses fail because they do not know their market. Knowing your customers' needs and the product you are selling is critical. Offer good quality at a fair price: Deliver a great product. The product or service you offer is successful when it is somehow unique or superior to your competitor. The key is to make your product, even if the same, unique. Perhaps faster efficient service, excellent customer service, discounts. Create ways to make your product more desirable. Failure: Failure can lead to success… Failure can be the best education and feedback you will receive on the road to success. Think of failure as a valuable learning tool. When we step back from feeling like a failure we look at our circumstance as an opportunity to learn rather than viewing it as a failure. We have the opportunity to regroup, correct, adjust and continue running our business with renewed energy. View failure as a way to success. The only failure is not learning from our mistakes. Commitment: Commitment is the inertia that wins the game - Once a commitment is made, there is no more asking yourself "should I or shouldn't I." Commitment is strong- no going back. At each step we perceiver, overcome obstacles and push until we make it happen. The first Thursday of the month the Yucaipa Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Business Breakfast open to all Chamber members. This breakfast meeting offers great speakers that give successful business tips and ideas, techniques, and address business related government issues. Contact the Chamber office at 909-790-1841 or email at info@yucaipachamber. org. ~ Nancy Kenny Yucaipa President/CEO Amy Minjares presents $100 in Yucaipa First! gift certificates to January's winner Tanya Flores. Tanya says she's been submitting her cards for three years and is happy her perseverance paid off. Tanya likes to shop at Stater Brothers because of their great customer service and quality grocery selection. You too can become a Yucaipa FIRST! winner, just shop at participating businesses and have them "sticker" your card. For 2015 you will be required to submit a customer survey card when you submit your Yucaipa First! card. 20 OUR YUCAIPA | MARCH 2015
