FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2015 7 Landscape. She also served on the Rec Center North Ad Hoc Committee, which disbanded after it completed plans for use of the old sales office north of the Lodge. With her committee work, she said, she has developed a good working relationship with the homeowner Board members, two of whom — President Jacque Sneddon and Treasurer Wayne Staples — she will join if elected. She is a retired registered nurse with 31 years experience in nursing, nursing education, and project management, all with Kaiser Permanente in California. She holds a bachelor's degree in nursing, a master's in nursing education and a certificate as a legal assistant/legal nurse consultant. In furthering her theme of connecting, she would encourage holding town hall meetings before the Board makes any major decisions. She would also work to see that suggestions, questions and problems brought to the association by members receive responses within a reasonable time. "The residents want to know what happened to their inquiries. They're not getting that now," she said. Sandoval grew up in Laurel, Montana, on a farm. Her father worked at a local oil refinery, but farmed to provide a fund for his three children to go to college. "And that did it," said Sandoval. "That patch of land put us all through college.' She first thought she would be a veterinarian. "When one of our animals got sick, the vet would show up in his helicopter and land in the pasture – I thought that was so neat." She gave the animals their injections and otherwise took care of them. "I even used to drive the combine, until one day a snake popped out of the wheat and landed on my lap. I told my dad then I wouldn't do that anymore." When it came time to go to college, she opted for taking care of humans instead of animals. She entered the nursing program at Montana State and finished at Long Beach State in California. She later got her master's from Cal State Dominguez Hills. As part of her duties on the Emergency committee, she is a member of the PassCom Emergency Planning Committee, which coordinates emergency responses and mutual aid in the San Gorgonio Pass for Beaumont, Banning, Calimesa, Cabazon, Cherry Valley and Morongo. Sandoval was attracted to Four Seasons three years ago because, "The community is beautiful. I wanted the trails, but I didn't want a golf course." She looked at several other 55-and- up communities, "But none of them were as nice. I found the house I wanted, bought it and moved in." She hopes her service on the Board would help keep Four Seasons the top-of-the-line community it is now, and even improve service to the members. She said "I'm ready to try and we'll find a way." that, she would support use of HOA funds to establish one. "I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on that," she said. After she retired from the Sanitation District, she began looking for a new place to live, "I'm by myself. I have no kids to look after me (she lives with her dog, Bertie and cat Ophelia), so I need neighbor support." On her way back from looking at a 55-plus community Indio two years ago, she stopped at Four Seasons. "I was being shown around; people went out of their way to say 'hello' to me. 'This is home,' I said." She is on the Neighborhood Watch Program and is a member of the Emergency Preparedness Committees survey team. She said that if elected she would, "be available to residents to see what I can do to help out." Right now they "feel shut out. They don't know how to get information. I want them to feel included. " Her campaign handout says she "will do whatever it takes to make good things happen at Four Seasons Community in Beaumont." continued from page 4 continued from page 6 Candace Parrish Jean Sandoval
