19 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2015 | Our next general meeting is Thurs., May 21, at 1 pm in the arts and crafts room. We will discuss new business and any upcoming new classes. Following the meeting, we are pleased to say the demonstrator will be our very own Chef Francisco, from the Bistro. He will demonstrate how to carve fruits and vegetables into art. You may know Francisco, and this will be the chance to watch him do his art. All residents are welcome! The mixed-media artwork and jewelry of Vicki Allen-Hitt and Lucia K. Wolfer is displayed on the gallery wall and in the cabinet at the lodge during the months of March and April. Vicki's pieces represent a variety of genres while Lucia's work focuses on American Indian themes. Both artist's jewelry have a tribal/ethnic flair. Come and enjoy this eclectic exhibition! Remember that we have standing classes in the art room: painting, mixed media/acrylic, drawing, tole painting, tatting and more. The greeting card class had such good attendance it is now being held once a month. The cake decorating class also was such a hit that the instructor scheduled another one. The tatting class has added a form of Japanese beading art. Thanks to all of our instructors who share their talents with us. For those who are interested in classes throughout the year, including summer painting workshops, please check the information sheets in the Arts and Crafts Room and sign up to participate in these events. Open Studio is a free event held in the arts and craft room. Let's keep using the Arts and Crafts Room all spring and summer and hold painting times for fun and practice whenever the room is open. Anyone using any medium is welcome. The first dates open for this month are Thursdays, April 2, and April 16, at 1 pm. If you do not receive the emails from The Four Seasons Art League let our chair, Nancy Hawkins know at nhawk2blue@aol. com. These emails inform you about our continuing art events, classes, open studio times and updates. Four Seasons Art League Sherry Hutson FOUR SEASONS ART LEAGUE FEATURED ARTIST When I was 10 years old, I would go to work with my mother. She would set up a still-life and have me draw or paint it. One year, she sent my work in and I won a scholarship for art. This was the start of something more than I could imagine. Years passed and I went to college in the 1980s. I became involved with different aspects of art: drawing, painting, ceramics and more and took many different workshops. I am enjoying this time in my life now and am constantly challenging myself with new projects.
