The Annual Spring Art Show is Sat., April 25, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. All Sun Lakers and their guests are invited to view the paintings, jewelry, photography, quilts and other art on display and to vote for their favorite piece of artwork. The show opens at 11 am and closes at 3:45 pm. Connie Zane will present a demonstration of collage during the Art League general meeting on Sun., April 19, at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. Connie has won numerous awards for watercolor and collage in the Coachella Valley and Oregon. She says, "I enjoy the challenge and beauty of watercolor, but collage has taken a more predominant role in my art career since there are so many spontaneous and creative things you can do with collage. Collage is a creative and unique expression of 'whatever moves you'. Nothing is permanent, as it tends to be with watercolor, since you can always layer more paint or paper over any part and recreate something new. All Sun Lakers and guests are welcome to attend Connie's demonstration. The winners of the mini-show at the February general meeting are pictured right. Winners were chosen by those at the meeting. The Best of Show was chosen by the demo artist at the meeting. Cherry Valley artist David Fairrington will be the guest instructor at the Monday morning art classes in April. David is a landscape and plein air painter who enjoys working with both oil and acrylics. He also paints portraits of both children and adults. This year, his classes will be April 6, 13, 20 and 27.
