The cool weather brought a huge crowd to the South
Clubhouse for our February meeting featuring "Soup
Sensations." Soup is the most fundamental form of food
since the invention of fire. It is nutritious, comforting and
creative. Nine members shared their special recipes
with the members. President Suzi Messick shared the
fable of 'stone soup.' Co-V.P. Connie Cutner brought
back childhood memories of sharing grandma's homemade
soup with her sister. We all have such memories, such as turkey soup
made from leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner. Members shared
samples of different soups with muffins and dipping bread also
brought in by members. Thanks to all volunteers
for the delicious food.
At the April 24 meeting we will learn "What
goes on a cracker?" Remember when the supermarket only
carried a few kinds of crackers and cheeses? Well now there is a
potpourri of choices in the supermarkets, specialty stores and
even through the Internet. The science of what to put on a
cracker has become an entire food challenge. Come join us
and taste some of our favorites.
See you Fri., April 24, at 11 am in the South Clubhouse. Info.,
