SOCIAL CLUBS & GROUPS | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2015 | 19 March certainly came in like a lion, here's to it going out like a lamb. If you are looking forward to spring, then you have a wonderful treat in store for you from the Mystery Theater members. The 2015 spring production has been selected and it is a hilarious, old fashioned melodrama by playwright M.K. O'Roark, Peril in The Paddock (Or A Horse Of Another Mother). This stage show promises to be filled with colorful characters like the Vixen, Cyanna Stunnington and the Hero, Lance Charger. You will be entertained by music, songs and dancing, accompanying the play as well. Auditions have been held and a cast has been selected. Show dates are May 28, 29, 30 and 31. Peril in the Paddock is a must see! Watch for future information, you won't want to miss this delightful production. Did you know it takes a village to put on these productions? If you have always wanted to be a director, work with the lighting and sound, sew costumes, or be a stage manager, and are interested in participating in this and future productions, please contact Bill Shova 845-0547, or Lou Evans 769-8556. Wherever your talents lie, we need you! Won't you join us at our next meeting on April 7, at 1 pm, held at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. See you there! Mystery Theater & More Reader's Theatre is now behind us and as usual the sell out crowd for the Ingrid Bergman classic Notorious, co-starring Cary Grant, fully enjoyed the well crafted radio play. In February we celebrated the multi- talented Ken Brown with a testimonial dinner in the Sandwedge. A majority of the members turned out for this wonderful evening of good food, great company and the chance to honor Ken for his contributions to good theatre. Ken made wonderful improvements to the Reader's Theatre venue by adding a full spectrum of sound effects that brought the offerings a depth of feeling made possible through Ken's technical expertise. Working as a team, Ken's wife Marian has enhanced many performances by adding songs of the times sung enchantingly as a prelude to the radio plays. We look forward to a workshop that Ken is planning for the late summer to share his knowledge of sound effects production with anyone interested in learning this craft. Our fall play, The Odd Couple (female version) continues to be our selection under the direction of Michael Owen. Auditions for the roles will be June 22 and 23 in the Main Clubhouse bus room from 9 am to 12 noon. This play, authored by Neil Simon, features Unger and Madison at it again, but this time its Florence Unger and Olive Madison playing Trivial Pursuit instead of poker and the Pidgion sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela brothers. But the hilarity remains the same. This version had its Broadway run in the late 1980s and has been presented by community theatre ever since. Drama Club
