Spring Landscaping
Beautiful landscaping creates impressive curb appeal for property
owners and residents. Although much of the landscape has been
dormant through the winter season, grasses and trees are still very much
alive and need a helping hand. Below are a few things that you can do
in early spring to help create a beautiful spring landscape at your home:
Lawns: The best way to control weeds is to control them before
you see them. Apply a pre-emergent now, and then follow with a post-
emergent application in early to mid-spring to keep dandelions and
other weeds at bay. Also, applying a slow-release fertilizer will give your
landscape the right amount of nutrients at the right time.
Trees and Shrubs: Early spring is a good time to prune trees because
they are less stressed. Pruning gives trees a clean, fresh start on the
season and promotes even growth
Maintenance: Before new growth begins, the dead matter needs
to be trimmed enabling new growth. After all dead matter has been
removed from plants and flowerbeds; it is a good time to apply much to
prevent weeds and keep soil moist.
Softscaping: Spring is the best time of year for new plantings of trees,
dormant grasses, flowers and shrubs.
And Last But Not Least, Irrigation: Leaks may have developed over
the winter due to temperature changes and swollen or clogged pipes. It's
recommended to check all your sprinklers and irrigation systems for
efficient usage.
