soCIal Clubs & groups | sun lakes lIfestyles | May 2015 | 19 Spring is an exciting time for theater and none more so than the Sun Lakes Mystery Theater, who is hard at work on a hilarious, old- fashioned style melodrama by the incomparable M.K. O'Roark, Peril in the Paddock, or A Horse Of A Different Mother (with music songs and dance). This bare bones production directed by Joe Vallely, with Assistant Director Ginger Burris, is sure to stir up fond memories of timeworn westerns with its colorful characters like the Vixen Cyanna Stunnington, and the Hero Lance Charger. Peril in the Paddock is sure to please as you boo the villain and cheer the hero. Show dates, May, 28, 29, and 30 at 7 pm, plus a matinee on May 31 at 2 pm. Tickets are $8, reserved table seating. Tickets will go on sale in the Main Clubhouse lobby beginning Mon., May 11. Cast: Patricia Woodburn-Ruth Bray; Rusty Hinge-Bob Bray; Lance Charger-Gaylord Spence; Martha Tendercare-Martie Steggell Suzie Tendercare-Ginger Burris; Nasty Ned Nantura-Joe Vallely; Cyanna Stunnington-Marilyn Kellison Thunderbolt-Susan Fitzpatrick; Sign Girls-Karen Parmer & Fran Kramarski. Don't just be a spectator, participate! If you can sing, dance, paint, sew, wherever your talents may lie, we need you! Won't you join us at our next meeting on May 7, at 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. See you there! Mystery Theater & More It's my pleasure to announce that our monthly social dinners are again being planned by our beloved member Caroline Molzan. April's dinner was held at the Sizzler and as usual everyone enjoyed the wonderful menu and the interaction of getting together with others of similar interests. Caroline turned 92 in April although one would never know it. She is one of the most active Sun Lakers and can be trusted to be a part of any activity which is benefiting others. Caroline and long time Drama Club member Lena Lentine manned the welcome table at the latest Reader's Theatre and reported a full house and a pleasurable evening of drama Be sure to mark your calendars with the audition dates for the Drama Club fall production, The Odd Couple (female version). Auditions are June 22 and 23 in the Bus Room of the Main Clubhouse from 9 am to 12 noon. This hilarious comedy by Neil Simon showcases the two leading parts and several others so if you are at all interested in the excitement of being on stage please come and tryout. The director will be Michael Owen who did such an astounding job with the Mystery Theatre's "That's Entertainment" this winter. An August workshop to teach Sound Effects is in the planning stages and will feature the talents of Ken Brown in a MS Windows Platform. The schedule is still in early stages but will be announced in Lifestyles. Old timers will remember the Mystery Theatre's rousing presentation of Neil Simon's Rumors in 2003. You now have a chance to see this wonderfully fast paced comedy presented by the Redlands Footlighter's. The Drama Club will be attending on May 17 at the 2 pm matinee.
