38 | sun lakes lIfestyles | May 2015 | health & sports Clubs Lately I have been thinking about how lucky we are to live in Sun Lakes with beautiful scenery and great facilities. With all our activities and friends to enjoy them with. Whether you play tennis or play cards there is always someone. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there and look a little harder. The weather is fantastic for tennis, pick up your tennis directory and call someone new and set a date. Come to the monthly mixer and find new friends. Nick and Debbie have been doing a wonderful job of organizing the first Saturday mixer, May 2, is our first 8 am start time, so set your clock early and don't be late. They are making this fun for all, members and non-members are welcome. Remember Sun Lakes has also set aside court 1, 2, and 3, Monday and Wednesday, 8 to 10 am, is reserved for women's play. Tuesday and Thursday, 8 to 10 am, is reserved for men's play. This is a good time for new players to meet tennis players in the community. Don't be shy or you will be home on the couch when you could be out having fun and kicking butt. Our Second Quarterly meeting is on Sat., 16 at 5:30 pm. We will be having a Mexican Fiesta following the meeting. Sign-up and deposit your $10 pp check in the lock box, at the South Clubhouse. Remember if you commit to the dinner there is no refunds. However, you can find someone to take your place if you can't make it. Our highly successful tennis mixer, with pizza and beer, will be on May 20, don't forget to sign up and deposit your $5 pp check at the South Clubhouse. May looks busy with the courts in full swing. Remember to take some time to rest next to the pool, after a hard three sets. Please look in your bookcase at home for any books about tennis or tennis players and consider donating them to the clubs bookcase. Also consider when you are going to the garage sales this spring looking for equipment we may be able to use. Donations are welcome. Tennis Good exercise! A fun activity! Great people! That's what you'll find with us. Haven't played since you were a kid? Doesn't matter… we have players of all skill levels. We play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4 - 6 pm, and Sat., 10 am - 12 noon in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (normally). See the Events Board across from the Main Clubhouse Reception Desk for more information.
