If the first falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WaItING lISt POlICy The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. All Recreation Classes, Excursions, and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. Due to some of the excursion refund policies, and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. Thank you! eXcursIons Pageant of the Masters Thurs., July 23, 3 pm - 12 am, $71 pp. The 2015 Pageant of the Masters, The Pursuit of Happiness, will explore the many sources of happiness, both ancient and modern through our theatrical production of living pictures. Go on a sentimental journey through depictions of pastimes and activities that gave people joy long before the instant gratification of the computer age. Discover artists who found their own answers to the age-old question, what makes life worth living? The 2015 Pageant promises to be a breathtaking, playful and joyous journey, in search of that most mysterious of treasures. You will have time for dinner (on own) at the many restaurants in Laguna Beach before the show begins at 8 pm. A shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes. Your ticket also allows you access to the historic open-air art gallery which has been celebrated as California's premier fine art show. The Getty Villa Mon., July 13, 8am – 4:30pm, $28 pp. The Getty Villa houses the J. Paul Getty Museum's collection of approximately 44,000 Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiquities. Over 1,200 works are on view in 23 galleries devoted to the permanent collection, with five additional galleries for rotating exhibitions. With objects dating from 6,500 B.C. to A.D. 400, the collection contains monumental sculptures as well as artifacts of everyday life. The Galleries are arranged by theme and include Gods and Goddesses, Dionysus and the Theater, stories of the Trojan War and others. This approach enables visitors to view the artworks in the context of their use in classical societies, encouraging a deeper understanding of the ancient world. The Getty Villa Café serves casual Mediterranean-inspired fare and has indoor and outdoor seating. Wine and beer are also available.
