"Charity starts at home!" How many times have you heard that phrase during your life time? A lot, I am sure. It's true, of course, and we do practice it at Sun Lakes. You might not be aware but the charities that receive funds from Sun Lakes Charities are all in the Pass Area. Sun Lakes Country Club is in the Pass Area, we give to our own who need our help. That is why it is so important for all residents to participate in the activities of Charity Week. There are so many events, all you have to do is pick one or more and join in the fun. There are lots of games that the young, the young older and the older young can join and be part of. The week begins with a Pitch and Putt contest, followed by a Tennis competition and exhibition, Bocce Ball Tournament, a Monster Scramble Golf Tournament, and the Pro-Am Golf Tournament and Shoot-out on the weekend. You can be part of these events or be a spectator and cheer them on. Other times during the week will have a Pancake Breakfast, a Helicopter Ball Drop, a Fashion Show and Luncheon, a Gala Dinner Dance and a fireworks show. Obviously, there is something for everyone. You can check the Lifestyles Magazine for the schedule of event and their locations. By the end of April each District Delegate will have distributed Raffle Tickets to your home. The prizes are great and the ticket sales are a part of our revenue. A large part of our revenue comes from our advertisers. You will receive a Charity Week magazine, and we ask you to patronize the advertisers who contribute to our charity. Over the years more than one million dollars has been given to the needy in the Pass Area. Last year alone, we raised over $ 85,000. Mark your calendars for June 8th through the 14th and come out and join your friends and neighbors in the festivities of Charity Week. Remember, "charity starts at home," let's continue to take care of our own in the Pass Area.
