12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2015 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel It doesn't seem possible that we are in our sixth month of the 2015 year! So far we have slogged through soggy April days, a very wet garage sale and lots of changes to our recreation centers and time schedules. We still have a lot more to get through as we welcome our new BOD member and see how things are changed as we get new assignments and suggestions. For those of you who subscribe to the Beaumont Cares About You newsletter, you already know that Riverside County has announced a new, free service that will supplement the existing household hazardous collection waste collection program. Riverside County recently added an antifreeze, battery, oil paint (APOB) and Paint Care Facility at its Lamb Canyon Landfill. According to the newsletter, the service is available for free to Riverside County residents from 6 am to 4:30 pm during non-holiday Saturdays. The newsletter also added a note that the facility is closed during inclement weather or for other hazardous conditions. If you need to verify information or availability, please call (951) 486-3200 or (800) 304-2226. Reminder to residents: the Beaumont Cherry Festival is being held between June 4 and 7 this year. According to their advertisement, "the Cherry Festival has been the biggest community event in Beaumont. Virtually the entire community participates in this four-day celebration, which features games, rides, booths, music, entertainment and the best food and drink the Pass area has to offer. Come out and join us. We look forward to seeing you at this year's festival." Be sure to update your emergency information at the Lodge desk. Just in case something happens, the management must be able to notify family. This includes plans for pets — and, something that has happened on my own street recently — someone needs to notify the newspaper to stop delivery. Smitty will be on vacation in "mid-July." More specifics will be forthcoming in the July edition of the Breeze. The Board of Directors decided today that the Summit would stay open on the Fourth of July until 10 pm. This will allow residents to barbeque/picnic on the hill and be also able to see the Beaumont fireworks from the lawn. Reservations for grills will have to be made. Fun from the Internet: "I don't trip over things. I do random gravity checks!" "Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for 10 minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller!" My favorite is: "And please, Lord, give me patience and give it to me NOW." Save the date!
