We don't charge any fees or even have dues! May 30 is the 10th Annual Cherry Fest Car & Motorcycle Show at 10 am in Beaumont's Stewart Park, 9th and Orange Streets, presented by the Kiwanis Club of Beaumont. All proceeds from this show benefit the Beaumont High School Scholarship Fund. The Cherry Fest Car Show kicks off Beaumont's Cherry Festival Week, which is from June 4 to 7. Some of our classic cars will be featured in the show, and will participate in the parade which will be held on Sat., June 6. Our next regular meeting will be held at 8 am, Sat., June 6, with our display of cars in the Main Clubhouse parking lot. Breakfast will follow at a to- be-announced restaurant, and then we'll watch the parade together. Info., Sandra Glickman, 267-3187. Bible Study Our Bible study group is non-denominational. All are welcome. We meet together every week for fellowship and study. On the first Wednesday of each month we meet for dinner before our regular meeting. Reservations for dinner are taken in the meeting the last Wednesday of each month. Bring your Bible, any version, and listen to or participate in our discussion of the evening topic. We're all learning together. We'd be delighted if you'd join us. We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Hi! I'm Herbie, and it's my 50th birthday this month! I'm a cherry red 1965 Volkswagen Beetle, with more than 300,000 miles under my fan belt! In June, exactly 50 years ago, my owner Lavinia Mount and her late husband found me on the showroom floor of a VW dealership in San Bernardino. Lavinia has taken very good care of me all this time, and I love to serve her well in return. I was restored in 2007 (not that I really needed it, you understand), with new paint and upholstery, and all my Sun Lakes friends came to celebrate with Lavinia and I. Some of my more thoughtful fans showered me with birthday gifts, like chamois rags, car wax, etc. Lavinia even had champagne to toast my restoration. Since then, I've been in many shows and parades and won many trophies, which are always on display in my garage. In the annual Sun Lakes Fourth of July parade, I proudly lead the way with many other classic and antique cars from our club, the Cruzin' Cronies. When you see me coming down the street, remember to wave at me and say, "Happy Birthday, Herbie!"
