SOCIAL CLUBS & GROUPS | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2015 |23 Happy Father's Day to all of the dad's in Sun Lakes. Plan a picnic, due something fun and enjoy our dads for as long as we can. I am so fortunate to still have mine. Enjoy these summer months! Our next meeting and caregivers support group will be Thurs., June 18, at 10 am in the Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Anderson. His topic will be The Need for Clinical Trials. Dr. Anderson has given his time to us before and we are thankful for all the information he shares with us. Don't miss this very informative morning. The support group begins right after Dr. Anderson. Diane Stone leads this group along with Larry Liebers. Presently Larry is recuperating at Cherry Valley Healthcare. Our best wishes and a speedy recovery to Larry. Our patient group will meet in the Arts and Craft Room. This group is designed to help you the caregiver. Bring your loved one here and proceed to the meeting. and support group knowing your loved one is well taken care of and having fun. We play games, do exercises, have entertainment and do just about anything your loved one wants. Our volunteers are loving and caring. They all have experience with Alzheimer's patients because they have had a family member with Alzheimer's at some time in their life. We care about your loved one. If you would like to learn more about memory loss. Alzheimer's and dementia, we have reading material we can loan you. Call Shirley at 845-2008. Memory Care Group For those of you who are new to us, I have decided to repeat the 50 Things You Should Know About Alzheimer's Disease. Here are the first three: 1. Alzheimer's is a disease that affects a person's brain. 2. Alzheimer's slowly makes it harder to think, learn, remember and make decisions. 3. Alzheimer's has no cure. We meet January through October, typically on the second Wednesday of the month, 11 am - 12:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room. There are discussions on the latest findings and research, medications, nutrition, exercise, and coping skills brought to us by various speakers. Come to our group to learn and share your experience with others. Info., Gerri Piechowski, 769-2305. Parkinson's Support Have you performed in: Glee Club? Chorus? Church? The shower? If you can carry a tune, come sing with us… we want YOU. Sing with us in chorus, small groups, or quartets in Barbershop Harmony. Previous singing experience is desirable but not necessary.
