soCIal Clubs & groups | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2015 | 19 The Mystery Theater had a wonderful year and it was our pleasure to entertain the community with our productions of That's Entertainment, Guys N' Dolls & More, and Peril In the Paddock or a Horse of A Different Mother. Summer is finally upon us and it's Vacation Time. That means the Mystery Theater goes dark in the months of July and August. Do you have a passion for theater? Do you like to act or sing, or perhaps your talents or interest lie in directing, production, sound or lighting, or perhaps you are interested in learning? If so, we need you. During the summer months we will be creating the fall production of That's Entertainment. If you are interested in participating, or just finding out more about it, please contact the Director of the production, Pat Naylor, at 306-5255, or the Music Director Jan Stapel, at 769-6110, or the Director of Choreography, Susan Fitzpatrick at 769-0801. Mystery Theater & More Summer is here and the Drama Club is looking forward to the auditions for our fall play, The Odd Couple, (female version) which will be held on July 16 from 1 to 4 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. This is the hilarious comedy by Neil Simon but converted to a female cast. The play doesn't lose a single laugh with the conversion and in reality the humor is enhanced with the changes. Michael Owen, who directed the Mystery Theatre's production of That's Entertainment this spring, will be directing. This production involves a cast of six women and two men. You don't have to be a member of the Drama Club to come and try out. Everyone is encouraged to appease those inner dramatic/comedic instincts and join in the fun. This year the annual classical violin concert has been moved to the winter. While the summer venue proved to be very popular over its 10 year run the change to this past winter proved to be a popular choice with the audience and the meet and greet reception held right after the concert for all those who attended. Our performers from Japan and San Francisco also appreciated the evening venue which seemed to be a more appropriate setting for the marvelous musical presentations. The Drama Club lost one of its valued members in June with the passing of Al Dunn, husband of Sue Dunn, former president of the club. Al came to the club some 10 years ago and devoted his energy to the backstage activities of set building and organization. Al was incredibly dependable and one of those people who could be counted upon to accept and carry out tasks to completion. We will miss him. Once again, any and all Sun Lakers who may have an interest in taking part in dramatic presentations both on stage and back stage are encouraged to come to one of the monthly meetings held stage side in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom the first Thursday of each month at 1 pm.
