22 | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2015 | soCIal Clubs & groups Yiddish Culture Club "Summertime, And The Livin' Is Easy," might have been true in Porgy 'n Bess and can certainly apply here in Sun Lakes even though some of us are "Busy Doin' Nothing." We might have "Sunlight on the sand and moonlight on the seas (pools)" but no "mangos and bananas we can pick right off the trees." Although we do have lemons and peaches and more available in some yards. We surely also have at least one "Maria," "Margie," and "Wonderful Guy" living here as well. What does all this have to do with the YCC? Come to our annual barbecue dinner on July 1, at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse and enjoy the talented songstress, Joann La Pointe, as she entertains us with her vast repertoire of songs. We will also partake of barbecue ribs and chicken with all the other usual July barbecue fare including desert. Since we will be in the South Clubhouse you can also bring your own wine or other beverage. The cost for this "Enchanted Evening" is $15 pp for members and $18 pp for guests. Please remember that the date of this dinner is one week earlier than our usual meeting date. Paid reservations should be sent to D. Stone, 1800 Litchfield Ct. You may make up a table of eight persons by sending all paid reservations together. Reservation flyers are available in the Main Clubhouse. More info., Diane, 769-0130 The Friendship Club proudly presents a double bill on July 12 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. From Cuba and South Florida comes Juan Pablo Subirana, a multi-talented, classically-trained, Latin- American pianist. Juan Pablo blends the melodious themes of the classics into fresh, modern pieces in an exciting and rhythmic style that is sure to please everyone. Juan Pablo Subirana is as funny and charming as he is gifted, bringing to the stage an exciting mix of music, variety, and humor. Also on August's playbill is Bethany Owen, aka the "Woman of 1001 Voices and Faces." A singer/dancer/impressionist, Bethany impersonates women from the world of music, film, television, and comedy in a hilarious tribute to some of the most famous performers in the world. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, and the show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and drop them off at 5168 Rio Bravo Drive. For cancellations and information, call Pat at 845-3789 or Judy at 797-0265.
