Scoring seems to be down and pocket hits often leave a ten pin or a seven pin and worse - a seven/ten split. Nine teams, with a vacancy tenth team, are competing for 12 more weeks for the top spot. Current leaders are team number one - "Summer Fun" with Dick Taylor, Lisa Park, Lois Preston and Dianne Everley. Close behind are team seven with Sue Shubert, Bob McEwen, Bob Hall and John Shubert, tied with team three for second place with Madonna O'Donovan, Mike Draney, Ken Elsing and Micki Elsing. Two of the top three teams are anchored by the ladies! We have now established our new averages which sets the current handicaps. Bob McLean is the only one with a 200 plus average at 204! Bud Fowler 174 and Bill Ostrekar 173 are next in line. Dianne Everley is leading at 171 for the ladies followed by Sue Shubert 143 and Louise Deal at 138. Now all of us sand bagging for sweepstakes can break out our top games! Women's high games thus far are: Dianne Everley 203, Caroline Gagnon 197, Sue Shubert 185, Connie Matty 178 and Jean Turnbull 178. Men's top scorers are Howard Esterson 246, Bob McLean 245, Jim McCallum 222, Dave Deal 213, Bud Fowler 212 and Bill Ostrekar 211. We expect scores to soar with the summer heat! We all have maturity related physical handicaps that we can use as excuses. However, we are very lucky to be able to compete in this sport! Let's all give President "Herk Ranieri, Vice President, Wanda Ranieri and Secretary, Dianne Everley" our full support. Let the good times roll. Hey billiards players; do you enjoy the game of 8-Ball? If so, come on down to our Billiards Room any day except Sunday and practice with members of the 8-Ball Group. New players are more than welcome to join in. We usually arrive around noon and play until 2:30 pm or so. We 'pea' for partners and play to improve our 'game.' Competition is friendly, and helpful hints are common-place, as we're there to learn on those practice days. It's a bit more serious on tournament days. Every Thursday we host three matches here and one match at an away location nearby. While the competition is still friendly, there are no suggestions for improvement during these matches! If you want a more serious game, join a team and play in our tournaments. Cost is $15 for a three-month season. For more information, contact Steve Felber at 769-6898 or SNFELBER@yahoo. com.
