health & sports Clubs | sun lakes lIfestyles | July 2015 | 39 WOW! June was busy, and I hope everyone enjoyed all the activities your tennis club had to offer. We will announce the winners of the Mixed Doubles in the August Lifestyles. July will start a little slower. Our first Saturday mixer is canceled because it falls on the Fourth of July and so many people are involved with other fun family activities. So feel free to use the courts that day for open play. Keep in mind we will be back the first Saturday in August with the courts reserved for our monthly mixer and all the fun. Courts not used for the mixer will be released for open play after teams are selected. Thank you to Nick and Debbie for their efforts coordinating the long established event, good job. Our annual Wimbledon Pancake breakfast at the South Clubhouse is on July 12. Watch for fliers and sign up sheets for this fun morning. Wednesday, July 15 at 5 pm is a monthly mixer and fun on the Veranda. Watch for fliers and sign up early. Remember once you sign up we are basing the food cost on your commitment. Please drop off your check in the lock box or give it to our club treasurer. July 17 is the second Friday Night Lights mixer and potluck. Watch for the flyers or contact Sally Jo Schwartz for more information. Remember you don't have to play to be part of the potluck. We all love eating and watching good tennis. Watch your email or the fliers at the courts for future events like the Men's Doubles in September, Women's Doubles in October, the bring a guest day hosted by Claudia Martin and the World Team Tennis days hosted by Kelly Curtis. USTA league tennis is alive and well also here in Sun Lakes thanks to Bob and Michelle Walter. They have been doing a great job captaining the community's teams. You don't have to be a club member, but if you want to test yourself in competition this is another great way. Contact one of them to get signed up. Finally you may have noticed that the courts are not getting washed. This is do to the water shortage. Maintenance will spot wash as needed and blow the dirt off the courts for the foreseeable future. We all must conserve in whatever way we can. However, with the hot weather upon us remember to stay hydrated on the court and be safe. We are so lucky to have such an active club and community so remember to the thank the many hard workers that make this lifestyle possible and enjoy tennis. Tennis Table Tennis/Ping Pong Good exercise! A fun activity! Great people! That's what you'll find with us. Haven't played since you were a kid? Doesn't matter… we have players of all skill levels.
