12 OUR YUCAIPA | JULY 2015 By Natalie Palmer Yucaipa's annual Fourth of July bash is sure to be fun for the whole family. For the fifth year, The Yucaipa Lions Club and the city of Yucaipa are sponsoring the three day celebration that kicks off Friday night, July 3, with carnival rides, great food, and fun booths on the soccer fields at Yucaipa High School, 33000 Yucaipa Blvd. On Friday, as well as Sunday, a $12 wristband gets you unlimited carnival rides all day long. The $12 unlimited ride wristbands must be purchased ahead of time and are available at Best Properties Management, 33075 Yucaipa Blvd., the Chamber of Commerce at 35139 Yucaipa Blvd., White Rabbit Coffee Company at 35256 Yucaipa Blvd., or Christ Redeemer Church at 35058 Yucaipa Blvd. Friday and Sunday unlimited ride wristbands purchased on site will be $15. On Saturday, riders must pay for tickets for the rides. "Bring your E-Z ups and lawn chairs and sit back and watch the kids enjoy the fun," said JR Allgower, Chairman of the Lion's Celebration Committee. "It's going to be a great old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration." On Saturday, July 4, the main event will be Hollywood U2, a well- known U2 tribute band, who will take the stage to offer a great show full of the popular 80s band's best music. According to the bands website, Hollywood U2 are arguably the world's greatest tribute act and have toured extensively throughout the country and overseas, bringing the music of Bono, The Edge and company to delighted audiences around the globe. Hollywood U2 are not simply impersonators who bear an uncanny resemblance to the original group, but they're also consummate musicians who bring the true heart of the Grammy-winning band to every performance. They've even played the pre- and post-concert parties on U2's 2006 Vertigo tour. The concert is free and begins at 4:30 pm. "These guys have been all over and put on a really great show," said Allgower. "You won't want to miss it." Other music throughout the weekend includes bands from the Yucaipa Youth Band Slam, Allgower said. Also on Saturday, the U.S. Air Force will do a fly-over, kicking off the fireworks show, said Allgower. Yucaipa's Fourth of July celebration will run Friday, July 3 from 5 to 11 pm; Saturday, July 4 from 2 to 10 pm; and Sunday, July 5 from noon to 7 pm. Any money raised from the event will benefit the Lion's charitable causes. YAPS EVENT Yucaipa Animal Placement is holding its annual July 4 celebration, which offers front row seating to the fireworks at Yucaipa High School. YAPS will be hosting a Star-Spangled pet parade and an appearance by youth race-car driver Austin Edwards. A barbecue complete with desserts and drinks are included in the ticket price. Guests should arrive at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $30 for adults, children six to12 are $10, and under five are free. There is a 20 percent discount on the purchase of four or more tickets.
