DID you kNow that July 2 Is woRlD uFo Day? This date was chosen because it is the date of the Roswell Incident in 1947. This historical event caused many people to believe that not only do extraterrestrial people exist, but they have visited our earth. Apparently a rancher named Mac Brazel who lived near Roswell, New Mexico, discovered the wreckage of a metallic object on his ranch. Both the shape of the wreckage and the metal it was made from were unusual. The rancher contacted military authorities who investigated the site and removed the wreckage. The first military reports indicated a mysterious Unidentified Flying Object. Later, however, the military rescinded the report but did not offer an explanation for the unusual materials and formation. This, of course, led many people to believe that the government was trying to cover up the fact that we had been invaded by aliens. Be watchful! 8 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2015 Did You Know? And, in case you were wondering, there is also a Mother-In-Law Day. It's the fourth Sunday in October. Be prepared to spend time with relatives on both days – and let them know how much they are appreciated! DID you kNow that thE thIRD suNDay IN July (July 19 thIs yEaR) Is NatIoNal ICE CREaM Day? President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984. He also set the third Sunday as National Ice Cream Day. I suspect that he enjoyed the nutritious treat. The ice cream cone was supposedly invented by Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri. He introduced it at the 1904 World's Fair. However, Italo Marchiony of New York City filed a patent for the ice cream cone many months before the World's Fair. Marchiony actually sold lemon ice in cones as of 1896. The only thing that everyone agrees about is that ice cream tastes good, particularly on a hot day. A quadruple decker of mixed flavors - yummy!
