11 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | July 2015 | Community Awareness Committee "the British are coming, the British are coming…" Longfellow may have gotten these words wrong in his poem about Paul Revere's famous ride, warning the Boston Middlesex County townspeople of impending danger in 1775 but what was right is the need to recognize danger and spread the word so that appropriate action can be taken. So it is with our Four Seasons Community Awareness Committee and its charter which reads in part: "To keep the Four Seasons Community informed about proposals (from external entities) that impact the residents and suggest actions that could be taken to protect their (resident) interests." That said, what is the Committee working on you may ask? Highway 79 extension efforts continue and are in close proximity to the Four Seasons property. Traffic congestion and noise will be likely issues. Our committee members continue to attend the CalTrans scoping meetings on this subject now designated Route 1BR to gain more understanding of potential community impacts. An updated EIR Package is scheduled for late this year and information regarding some $1 billion of federal funding. Mark your calendar for July 16 to attend a Public Outreach Meeting hosted by Riverside County Planning Department. A key subject of this meeting agenda is to obtain public input regarding General Plan Amendment #960. This has considerations for zoning and housing density for Reinhardt Canyon. Our Awareness Committee and many Four Seasons residents have the position that development within Reinhardt should be restricted to 5 or 10 acre parcels per home. Please attend, be heard and continue the so far successful efforts to provide both consistency and safety in any Reinhardt develop efforts. More information as to meeting time and location forthcoming. Hemet Golf Club, Roger Choi, Manager will be participating in a water efficiency survey. The survey will be conducted in June with the objective of identifying opportunities to better utilize the club recycled water usage. The survey will be performed by technical folks from Metropolitan Water District/ Eastern Municipal Water District. Results will be documented and given to Roger/Golf Club Corporation for consideration. Should action be recommended, the water districts have several financial incentive programs available to assist in such water efficiency improvements. So what can be done to improve the "quality of life" here in Hemet? Yes, this is a BIG question. We will include this topic within the July Committee Meeting Agenda. Much lively discussion will likely occur, future meetings will hear from invited guests such as Police Chief Brown. Our objective is to identify or reidentify issues and opportunities that can benefit Four Seasons residents and the community at large, thus improving the quality of life for all!
