soCIal Clubs & GrouPs | sun lakes lIfestyles | auGust 2015 | 19 Awww summer… Hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, water gets warmer, drinks get colder, music gets louder, nights get longer, and life just seems to get better! Just a friendly reminder: the Mystery Theater is dark through the month of August and will reconvene in September. But not to worry, the Mystery Theater team is diligently working on the fall production of That's Entertainment. If you are interested in participating in the fall production, please contact any of the following members for more information: Director Pat Naylor, 306-5255; Assistant Director Raelene Kretchman, 714- 815-6990; Music Director Jan Stapel, 769-6110; or Director of Choreography, Susan Fitzpatrick, 769-0801. We are looking for people who like to sing, dance, or just want to participate, or are interested in making new friends and having fun. Wherever your talents lie, we need you! Join us at our next meeting on Sept. 1, at 1 pm, held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. See you there! Mystery Theater & More August and the hottest days of summer are creeping up on us. While most of us just sit around and watch the electric meter spin members of the Drama Club have been busy with auditions for the fall play, The Odd Couple (female version). Michael Owen, the director, cast the play in July. This portends to be a hilarious comedy in which the main characters of the terrific Neil Simon play are women and the instead of poker they are playing trivial pursuit. The cast is beginning rehearsal and the rest of the club is busy in its usual supporting role of backstage work, ticket sales, and volunteering for the myriad of odd jobs that come up like weeds in the preparation for any production. Pat and Roy Corrall have signed on as producers for the production. August brings about the "Hands-on Sound Effects Workshop" on Aug. 20 from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. While this workshop is limited to just four students armed with their laptops, if more students sign up with Ken Brown there will be another class in September. For those who have attended a Reader's Theatre production you have enjoyed the sound effects brought about by Ken and his trusty computer. It's amazing how realistic sound effects can make a production. Only problem is that there is only one of Ken and we need backup technicians just in case. For information about the workshop call Ken Brown at 769-9911. The Drama Club is continuing its old tradition of recognizing member's birthdays at the monthly dinners. This was always fun and who can beat a tasty cake served to honor those who are celebrating one more year of experience? Bob Bray has volunteered to direct our Nov. 21 Reader's Theatre which will be a dual presentation of the short mysteries, Sorry, Wrong Number and The Hitchhiker. Auditions for this show will be on Oct. 5 and 6 in the Bus Room from 9 am to 12 noon. Come on out and get set for a wonderful time trying out for one of the parts. If you'd like to become a part of the Drama Club please call Rose Hermanson at 769-9810. Drama Club The Follies The Sun Lakes Follies presents "Heroes & Legends," Oct. 1, 2, 3, and 4.
