Regrettably, it has recently become a habit to be home in time for the long airing program "Jeopardy." Could it be the host of the show? Maybe it's the age of the contestants since they seem to be getting younger every day. The intriguing fact is that once one watches this game show it becomes apparent that many of the questions themselves hold easily seen clues to their answers. Either that or we're getting smarter as we get older! Except, of course, for the questions about sports, science, and politics. History questions from World War II and later are getting easier as is Art and Literature since we seem to have more time to read these days. What has this got to do with the YCC? Well, the last time we had an evening of "Jeopardy, YCC Style!" we had such a good time and were able to show one another how "up to date" we all were (smart, too) we decided to have another chance to prove ourselves to ourselves. Each table will be a team and will choose a captain so this will be a group effort. There will be prizes for the winning team. Questions will be about general subjects as well as culturally related ones. Our computer maven, David Greenberg, has succeeded in being able to duplicate the music and matrix seen on the TV version of "Jeopardy" and our electronic board will be projected on the stage screen in living color! Each correct answer will be awarded from 100 to 500 shekels. David will be our emcee. There will be a timekeeper, an official judge, and scorekeeper. Hilarity and kudos to all guaranteed! The fun will begin at 7 pm on Wed., Aug. 12, in the Main Clubhouse. Guest charge is $3 pp; no charge to members. No reservations are necessary. English is always spoken and refreshments always served. Everyone is welcome to come and test his or her knowledge on questions formulated by a non-accredited research group. Hope to see you all there. Info., Diane, 769-0130. Don't miss the our presentation of "Hollywood Revisited" in the Main Clubhouse on Aug. 9. See classic Hollywood moments replicated in a musical revue that includes costumes actually worn by your favorite stars in the original films. Set to the music of the time, you'll experience Hollywood's Golden Age from the 1930s to the 1960s, with magical, historic costume designs. Director of the show is Greg Schreiner, a concert pianist, and one of the most well-known collectors of movie costumes. His collection houses over 300 masterpieces, including pieces from the wardrobes of Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Julie Andrews, Gene Kelly, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Mae West, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Judy Garland. Schreiner provides musical accompaniment in the show, as well as anecdotes about the scene for which each costume was designed, and the creativity of the designer. Watch talented performers sing and dance to movie-related music while wearing the dazzling outfits that stood out in Old Hollywood. This will be a 90 minute show with no intermission. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, and the show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and drop them off at 5168 Rio Bravo Drive. For cancellations and information, call Pat at 845-3789 or Judy at 797- 0265. Mark your calendars now for our next production on Sept. 13, presenting "The Alley Cats," an American doo-wop group featuring a capella harmony, humor, and incredible energy. Also on the double bill is comedian Christine Pendleton with her violin, in a unique comedy show called "Funny Fiddle." The Friendship Club Bible Study Our Bible study group is non-denominational.
