The "Slo Rollers" team four is currently in first place. This team features President Herk Rainier, Vice President Wand Ranieri, Shirley Padick and Jim Padick. Team three "Bowldacious" moved up to second place just two games behind with Ken Elsing, Madonna O' Donavan. Mike Draney, and Micki Elsing. Third place team is "Summer Fun" with Dick Taylor, Lois Preston, Lisa Park and anchored by Secretary Dianne Everley. After several weeks of low scoring, I begged for some high scores to highlight the monthly article. Bob McLean responded with his season high score game of 237 scratch. A season high scratch series of 651 raised his average back up to 204. This inspired Lil McLean to roll her season high game and season high series with handicap 784! Men's high averages: Bob McLean 204, Tom Keheley 178 and Bud Fowler 174. Women's high averages: Dianne Everley 164, Louise Deal 146, and Micki Elsing 146. With eight more weeks to go we hope to see more hot scores to match the weather. The drought has lasted long enough. Let's go Sun Lakers! Info., Dianne, 323-6001 Sun Lakers III The team of LaWanda and Ray Roberson, Mel Green & Jim McGowan was amazing on the 9th week as they defeated the league leaders in four games (George and Ginger Chavez, Donna Reed and Ray Struchen). Summary of the Green Machine games included: Scratch Series, 2343; Scratch Game, 828; Handicap Series, 2772; Handicap Game, 971; Individual High Scratch Series, Jim McGowan 705, Ray Roberson, 651; Individual High Handicap Series, Jim McGowan, 741; Individual High Scratch Game, Jim McGowan & Ray Roberson, 255; Women, High Handicap Series, LaWanda Roberson, 686. Other season high results include: Women, High Scratch Game, Ida Nily, 215, Blanche Dennis, 204; Women, High Scratch Series, Jerry Schneider, 536, LaWanda Roberson, 512. The SOB's (Same Old Bowlers) still hold a 1 1/2 game over the Surprises (Mae Brock, Curley Mann, Ross Prather & Hal Taylor), with the PinSeekers (Terry Brown, Russ Summers, Ron Krogh & Howard Oquest) currently in 3rd place. With only 6 weeks remaining, many changes are possible. Sun Lakers interested in registering for the fall/winter league, which begins in September are invited to contact Secretary Jerry Schneider at 845-7850. Hey billiards players; do you enjoy the game of 8-Ball? If so, come on down to our Billiards Room any day except Sunday and practice with members of the 8-Ball Group. New players are more than welcome to join in. We usually arrive around noon and play until 2:30 pm or so. We 'pea' for partners and play to improve our 'game.' Competition is friendly, and helpful hints are common-place, as we're there to learn on those practice days. It's a bit more serious on tournament days. Every Thursday we host three matches here and one match at an away location nearby. While the competition is still friendly, there are no suggestions for improvement during these matches!
