FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2015 33 Performing Arts Club What? August is here already? I spent from January forward gearing up for the PG-55+ Comedy Show and it is now only weeks away. I can't wait and if you like risqué humor, you should be looking forward to it too! We do have a name change, however! The show is now being called, "The Twisted Cabaret." And with good reason. It is going to be more of a variety show with funny skits, songs, dancers and of course, comedy! John Horning, the producer of the show, has worked hard to make this show different than others we've put on in the past. His approach is to transport you back to a club scene of years ago, minus the smoke, of course. As far as the booze, you are encouraged to bring your own. We will be far funnier that way. Bring dinner from home or the Bistro too! We want to make this a fun and relaxing time for you. I've warned you before… arrive early! This show is free and fills up quickly. It will be table seating. Disclaimer: If you get stomach pains from laughing too hard, or if the liquid you're drinking comes out of your nose, the management, producer, nor any of the participants may be held liable or responsible. Eat, drink and laugh at your own risk! I've talked about the fun of participating in our radio shows so often, my fingers are typing this automatically. You don't need to know how to draw. You don't need to be athletic. You don't need a good singing voice. You just need to know how to read and speak. We've had some shy people and many out- going folks. That covers just about everyone I know. So, why not give it a try? We would love to get some new people involved in our next radio show, scheduled for Oct. 25. No memorizing; read straight from scripts. Very few rehearsals required, and it is a great group of men and women. Fun, fun, and more fun! If you have any interest or questions, please contact our esteemed Producer, Tom Shelley at tomshelley1@verizon.net to discuss it further with him. Do it today! Where did the time go? Wow, our Holiday Show is only four months away, being held on two successive days, Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5. They will be identical shows on each day so everyone will have an opportunity to see the show, based on our growing number of residents and their guests. Producer Sharon Bond and Co-Producer Roberta Hokuf have decided on something different for this year. Instead of using outside talent to put on a holiday play, as we've had the past few years, they decided to go in-house for talent to our writer's club. Several writers have agreed to write short stories on "Memories of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwaanza " and they will be read aloud. I think that's a lovely, charming way to share and learn from your neighbors, don't you? Hats off to Sharon and Roberta! Now that's thinking. In addition to the readings, the choir will be singing carols and inspirational songs in addition to a sing-a-long. When you attend a Performing Arts show, there is a donation box located inside the doors you walk through, on the left. As you already know, all of our performances are free to attend, but are not without expenses to us. Whatever you can spare from a single $1 bill or more is very much appreciated by our club. Please do not just walk by without a consideration to our ongoing needs. Thank you in advance for whatever you can donate. If you have any questions, or want to reach me, email terimk@ verizon.net or (951)992-9156. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Melody Seewoster in her skit "Backstreets of Beaumont" to be seen during Twisted Cabaret, Fri. Aug. 14.
