Our Fourth of July in-house tournament was so much fun. The group voted for individual play with double elimination. Since our group is so large in number, we voted to have three separate groups: A, B and C. The A group began the tournament at 9 am sharp, and even though we had to pull about eight additional chairs into the billiards room for tournament supporters, you could have heard a pin drop on the carpet. Every player was determined and focused, and it was such a fun competition. Check out the adjacent photos to see our fabulous winners! Congratulations to all participants You're all Billiards for Fun Group winners. On Aug. 4 we are having another quarterly in-house tournament. Interestingly, the group voted for a doubles tournament, with double elimination patterned after our May tournament. To determine which people are partners, we pull peas at the beginning of the tournament, and the partnership "left standing" is the winner. To be eligible for the tournament, however, each participant must be a group member and also participate in three sessions in the two months prior. Everyone has a great time, with amazing sportsmanship accompanied by sporadic teasing and lots of laughter. On Aug. 14, our bi-monthly potluck is scheduled, which once again is highly anticipated, and is destined to be another hit in the food and fun departments. On potluck days, the 11 am session begins at 10:30 am and ends at 11:45 am, and the 1 pm session remains the same (1 - 3 pm). If you would like to become part of a wonderful group of men and women who enjoy the game, come to the billiards room any Tuesday and check us out. The first regular session is from 11 am to 1 pm, and the second session is from 1 to 3 pm. We pull peas for partnerships and table assignments, winners rotate tables, and hope to end up at the highly-coveted table one. Come out and join us. You won't be disappointed. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine We held our annual July 4th tournament and had six 4-man teams compete. We played in the evening and had perfect weather for bocce ball. Everyone competing and observing had a great time. We now play on Tuesday at 6:30 pm and Wednesday at 6:30 pm. If you're looking for something to do with a chance to meet some great people, come on out and join us. Skill or knowledge of the game is not a prerequisite, and it is a lot of fun.
