Landscape Committee My name is Kathi Enos. I am the newly elected Chair of the Landscape Committee. I want to thank Don Ortega for his past leadership, as well as each and every member of this committee for their many hours of service and dedication to our community. We all realize that the 100 plus degree heat coupled with the drought compliance regulations have presented the Four Seasons residents and our landscape crew with worse than usual challenges to keep our lawns green. The committee is holding extra meetings on 2016 budget ideas for community improvements, as well as working closely with our landscape crew to maintain the delicate balance of compliance and maintenance of our common areas during this water crisis. The landscape crew is continuing their monthly maintenance rotation, reporting problem areas, as well as implementing water saving measures throughout our community. We are all in this crisis together! As the Committee is reviewing bills and usage history to make educated changes and improvements, residents should also take the time to do the same by reading and understanding their water bills. Make note of the monthly allocation for indoor and outdoor water usage, compare and monitor the usage history, and note the other charges besides water use (sewer, city services, etc.). Interesting fun fact: one billing unit of water equals 748 gallons of water! With that in mind, here are some examples of water saving techniques we all can easily practice which can quickly add up to big savings: • Plugging the bathroom sink instead of running water to rinse a razor. This alone is estimated to save 300 gallons of water per month! • Turning off the water while washing your hair can save up to 150 gallons of water per month! • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth or while lathering your hands! • Putting a bucket in the shower can capture extra water, which could be used to water plants or even water dry portions of your lawn! As a reminder, if you are planning on changing your landscaping with a more drought tolerant design, submit your plans to the Architectural Review Committee before the work is started. The Landscape Committee welcomes your thoughts and ideas. If there is an area that needs attention, please let us know. There are Landscape Maintenance Request forms available at the Lodge front desk. | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2015 | 12 Community Awareness Committee Lots of stuff going on in our community! Examples include: city of Hemet fiscal issues, downtown revitalization including a possible Metrolink station, and working on how to improve the quality of life in the San Jacinto Valley. These issues and opportunities and a few others are being worked on by our Four Seasons Community Awareness Committee (CAC). It's a collaborative effort, reaching out to members of Hemet City Council, Riverside County planning commission, citizens of the community and residents of Four Seasons. To help inform our residents, the CAC working with the city is planning to present a "State of the City of Hemet" program in a September or October. More specifics on this as the plan develops. This event will provide the opportunity to engage with city officials on key matters including budgets and underlying social and economic drivers. The CAC invites Four Seasons residents to join our Committee. Want to know more? Contact Allan Jaffe or email allanjaffe139@gmail.com.
