19 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | August 2015 | "Have hope. Because it works wonders for those who have it. You can be optimistic. Because people who expect things to turn out for the best often set the stage to receive a beautiful result." The picture on this page depicts our new Sunshine Team. We are pleased to have so many of our members from 2014 and 2015 back serving in the same positions. Since our last newsletter, there have been two Celebrations of Life. Cindy Dowie had John's at their home in June. It was well attended by family, Four Season friends, and friends from their former community. The Sunshine Team provided desserts. Phyllis Galitski's Celebration of Life took place in the Ballroom on June 27. The family had it decorated beautifully with fresh flowers. Francisco served lunch and the Sunshine Team supplied the desserts with some special cupcakes made by Phyllis's granddaughter. As a final tribute to Phyllis, an avid Bingo player, everyone played several games of Bingo. The family was very well organized in managing all the remembrances for their mother and grandmother. As you can see our goal is to have the kind of Memorial that the family desires. We just facilitate helping the family execute their choices as we know it is a stressful time for everyone in the family. Our thoughts are with both of these families. Fortunately, so far this month, we have had no more deaths. Another one of our tasks is to send cards to all the sick, injured, and those suffering from the loss of a loved one (even a beloved pet). Trish Egan has been in charge of this for several years and she does a wonderful job getting them all out in a timely fashion. Bev Habig is her new assistant as it's a big job. Since the last newsletter over 25 cards have been sent. All those in need also get a call from our telephone team. Anne Balensiefer, Fabian Yaeger and Kathy Poss make many calls every month. We appreciate the time and empathy that these two teams put in to serve our residents in need of support. We want to draw your attention to our monthly program presentations. Jeanne Lincoln helps find our speakers with the help of Jennifer Trebler from Arbor Hospice. Leola Kindt makes the poster that is in the lobby to remind our residents of these special events. Our July meeting will be over by the time you receive the Herald. We planned a very informative program meeting ("Ask the Pharmacist") which was a Q&A format with a local pharmacist, Merrill Brinton. August 19 will be of great interest to many of us. Bill Harrison, a 92 year old veteran of WW II, will speak about his six days on a raft in the Pacific. Anyone who has heard him has been moved and impressed by his story. A movie is being made of his "Six Days on a Raft." Bill is also an author and we are looking forward to his presentation. We are expecting a full house. In September, Tom Bloom, a mortuary broker, will talk about how to navigate the process of planning a Memorial or Funeral Service for a loved one. We hope to see you all there at these two special and informative presentations. Please fill out a needs form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who needs assistance. Also, our bulletin board in the Multipurpose Room reflects current contact and resource information.
