Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Bocce Ball Club: President, Mike Saperstein; Vice President, Larry Anderson, and Secretary, Jeannine Baker. The game of Bocce Ball requires no specific skills or previous experience. You will get a little exercise and enjoy a beautiful view at the Summit all while having a great time with a great group of people. If you are interested in learning the game, please join us at the Summit. Commencing Sept. 8, we will be playing on Tuesdays at 8:30 am and Wednesdays at 3 pm. If you are interested in playing, we will be happy to meet with you about 15 minutes before the game to go over the rules and let you have a little pre-game practice. If you would like to schedule your first practice session or if you have any questions, please call Mike Saperstein at (951) 769-7909; Larry Anderson at (951) 845-8003; Jeannine Baker at (951) 797-0833; or Bob Cooper at (951) 769-6352. ~ Bob Cooper FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2015 45 Bocce We have a delightful group of Four Seasons pool players who have joined together and built a great group of friends. We assemble once or twice a week to have a fun time playing billiards — a game we all enjoy. Well, most of the time. Sometimes it's very frustrating (when you're having an off-day, miss an easy shot, or shoot too hard), other times hilarious, and most times just downright fun! Fun is our goal, by the way. Sure it's about joining with your partner to share your abilities, develop strategy and give each other encouragement, but it's also about competition: trying to work your way to and then stay at Table One for as long as possible. It's about leaving with a lighter step as you get on with the rest of your day. All in all, the experience is true to its name: Billiards for Fun Group! On Aug. 4 we had our quarterly in-house tournament. We actually had 24 people sign up to play, and the room was buzzing with good-natured competitive spirit. After nearly two hours of double elimination, the final round was between partners Dave Martin and Rob Norwood versus partners Ron Erickson and Dennis Boozer. Ron sunk the winning eight- ball with cheering and high-fiving from his partner, Dennis. (See inset photo of the prevailing partnership, displaying their winnings!) Our next quarterly in-house tournament will be Nov. 3. On Aug. 11 we enjoyed our bi-monthly potluck and the amazing food that this group brought to share. Spouses are always welcome, and it's a chance to get to know each other better outside of the Billiards Room. If you are a long-time or brand new Four Seasons resident and have wanted to sharpen your billiard skills, join a group thats middle name is "fun," and spend a couple of hours each week with a great group of really nice, funny, and kind people, then consider coming to the Billiards Room every Tuesday. Session One is from 11 am to 1 pm. Session two is from 1 to 3 pm. There is also an informal practice every Saturday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Come check us out! You'll be happy you did! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine Billiards for Fun Partners Ron Erickson and Dennis Boozer. Ron sunk the winning eight ball at the August Billiards For Fun tournament
