FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2015 51
Horseshoe Club
Oh my, September already! Catalogs are full of
autumn and fall items with those beautiful colors we
all just love.
The Horseshoe Club continues to evolve, with meeting
times and days changing in an effort to optimize the
best time for all members. We are currently meeting
at the summit on Thursdays at 6:30 pm. However, with
the upcoming change of hours after Labor Day, we are
planning another starting time. Possibly it will be an
early morning time, but still on Thursday.
Our monthly social event dinner at the Bistro
followed by dessert at a member's home, was hosted by
Dee Kelch, our most capable club secretary. Let me tell
you, this lady can bake! In addition, hosts for these fun
events have been booked to the end of the year. Our
club is always accepting new members, so give us a try;
you won't be disappointed.

Our club met for the first time July 31 in the Lodge Craft
Room. Harry Henderson chaired the meeting. Fourteen
people are listed as members of the new club, which will meet
weekly for lessons, sharing and lots of chip making.
The members have all levels of experience. The more
advanced will give short demonstrations of new techniques at
each class.
After introductions and telling our carving history, we
discussed tools such as knives, gouges and chisels. Some
members brought their tools and examples of what they had
previously carved.
One of the first classes will involve learning how to carve
safely and how to sharpen tools. Future projects were discussed
and a carving of a dolphin or a horse's head are planned.
The club meets on Fridays from 3 to 5 pm, at the Lodge Craft
Room where we hope to see people who enjoy working wood
by hand. For more information contact Harry Henderson at
