Our next dance will be Sept. 3 and it will be a hors d'oeuvre menu only. Come and be entertained by Eli Howard's big band. $10 for members and $15 for guests. Drop off or mail your check to 4932 Rolling Hills (North Side). Walk-ins the night of the dance are okay. Look for information on the most popular evening of the year (the black and white ball) to be held on Oct. 29. This will be our last dinner dance of the year. On Dec. 3 we will celebrate the holiday season where the Ballroom will be decorated beautifully. More information later. If you want to become a Big Band Dance club member, membership is now only $15. | sun lakes lifestyles | sePteMBeR 2015 | 17 Rio De Janero in Brazil is going to be the home of the next summer Olympic games, festival and Mardi Gras. Sun Lakes Country Club and the ICC will celebrate the country of Brazil and Mardi Gras in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on the second Thursday evening in September. It will be a fun and festive evening. The doors will open at 5:30 pm. Music for dancing and listening pleasure will be provided by Don Destry who is always a favorite of the club, and starts at 6 pm. The dinner buffet starts at 6:30 pm by table call. You will find Cajon chicken pasta, kielbasa sausage, red beans, rice, and green beans on the serving lines. At your table will be corn bread muffins with butter and honey, coleslaw with pineapple and flavored with coconut. The dessert of mini banana splits along with coffee and water will be table served. You can sign up for this event on the first Thursday afternoon at 3 pm at the North Clubhouse. $22 for members, $25 for non-resident guest. So grab your mask of any kind (if you have one) and any kind of Mardi Gras dress if you choose, you won't be alone. Also, for new members the 50/50 drawing that we have at all of our events we contribute (your club) $100 each and every month to one of the two charities that we support, on an alternating basis. So not only are you taking a chance on winning a few dollars on the drawing you are actively participating through the ICC in helping to feed some of the needy in our community. They are very grateful of this support and you can find their letters of appreciation on the board in back of the Ballroom. International Culture Club International Dancers 80s Plus Club Big Band Dance Thank you so much for making our Festival of Dances and International Fashion Show a sold-out success on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. We hope you enjoyed what we presented as much as we enjoyed presenting it. Having given ourselves a well-deserved two weeks off following the show, we are now resuming classes and practices. We will be learning new dance routines and also adding an exciting new dance discipline to our offerings. So yes, ladies, this is a wonderful time to check us out and consider becoming a member of our group. We enjoyed a trip to the islands at the Sun Lakes South Clubhouse with the always popular Sun Lakes Hawaiian Dancers "Makua Hula." They looked beautiful in their dresses and danced so professionally. The group ended with their signature dance "The Prayer." Thank you Makua Hula. September is a catered dinner, reservations by Aug. 31.
