| sun lakes lifestyles | sePteMBeR 2015 | 19 The night runs away with the day. The grass that was green is now hay. The world goes around without even a sound, sigh; it looks like summer is over. We hope you had a great summer and that you were able to put that phone away and make some beautiful memories. The Mystery Theater is in full swing and will be holding auditions for their 2016 "That's Entertainment" production. Please bring your music with you and note that the genre is late vaudeville to early burlesque. In addition there are several smaller speaking parts; if you are interested in trying out for one, please contact Pat Naylor, Director, for the details. Auditions will be held at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, stage end on Tues., Sept. 1, from 2 to 3 pm (directly following our monthly meeting), Tues., Sept. 8, from 1 to 3 pm, and Fri., Sept. 11, from 1 to 3 pm. If you are unable to attend any of the above audition dates, please contact Pat Naylor, pnaylor050@gmail.com, or (951) 306-5255, to make other arrangements to audition. In addition we are looking for seamstresses who are interested in making and managing our costumes. Have you always wanted to direct, do set lighting, set design, or stage managing, but don't know how, or do you just love the theater? Here's an opportunity to learn from the experts. All you need to do is reach out and contact Bill Shova at 845-0547, or Lou Evans at 769-8556. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to participate, and make new friends! The Mystery Theater monthly meetings will convene on Tues. Sept. 1 at 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, stage end. See you there! Mystery Theater & More It's September and the Drama Club is deep into rehearsal for its Fall production, The Odd Couple (female version) under the direction of Michael Owen. The cast featuring Lee Stone as Olive Madison, Lynne Lewis as Florence Unger, Sallie Smelker as Sylvie, Martie Steggell as Mickey, Rose Hermanson as Renee, Ruth Bray as Vera, Dee Williams as Jesus Costazuela and Fred Hanrahan as Manolo Costazuela. The Assistant Director is Loreen Sowash and the producers are Pat and Roy Corrall. This play is a hilarious presentation that has been in production continuously since first being produced on Broadway. As with any Neil Simon play the jokes are continuous and thoughtful making it almost impossible to keep from laughing out loud. The Drama Club members in the cast are experienced and bring their characters to life and make them incredibly believable. Michael Owen started his dramatic life at age 11 when his teacher referred him to his high school drama club to have a venue for his acting out in class. He has been involved with theatre ever since. On Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 pm there is going to be a Celebration of Life for Audrey Nathan, a Drama Club member, at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. This incredible lady passed recently and was a good friend to everyone at Sun Lakes. She set an incredible example for all of us in her bravery and courage in facing the inevitable. Audrey will be missed by everyone who knew her. Drama Club
