40 | sun lakes lifestyles | sePteMBeR 2015 | dan english Dan was a resident of Lakeside Sub Association in Sun Lakes since April 22, 1988. He served on the Lakeside Board of Directors, off and on, for a total of 17 years. He also served as the Deputy Director, Resource Manager and Computer Group Leader of the Sun Lakes Emergency Preparedness Organization. Dan served voluntarily for 46 months with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. Subsequently he sought employment with a major aerospace company in Southern California and retired from that company after 34 years. During that period he worked as a mechanical design engineer, Chief Design Engineer and Senior Project engineer of several commercial aircraft and finished his career as a Sub-Division Director managing 1,500 employees with an annual budget averaging $300,000,000. While employed he attended night and summer education courses at Long Beach City College, California State, Long Beach and UCLA extension earning 134 units in Mechanical Engineering studies while intentionally foregoing the social courses required for a BSME degree. He was the father of four children, grandfather of seven and great grandfather of six. Dan and Jann were married for 19 years and shared many mutual interests, especially with regard to community service. roger Stier Roger passed away on August 3, 2015, at age 79. He is survived by his wife, Colleen. He is also survived by two sons Scott (Naia) and David; three stepsons Kim (Susan), Matthew (Karen) and John (Brenda), and seven grandchildren. They lived in Sun Lakes since 2002, when Roger retired. He worked in the automotive industry his entire career, including working at General Motors, Toyota and Mitsubishi. Roger was past president of Lakeside 2 Board, past president of Executive Men's Golf Club, former Marine volunteer on the committee who put up the flags, etc. Roger loved Hawaii, where he was married, vacationed there often and never gave up the hope of moving there.
