GET SPOOKED OUT AND SOLVE THE MYSTERY! The Art League presents an evening of pumpkin pie dessert, coffee, candy treats and a Halloween "Who Done It" that you solve. Awards will be given to the person or persons who identify the "killer" from clues presented by the mystery actors. "Get Spooked Out and Solve the Mystery" will be Wed., Oct. 28, 6:30-9:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. All Sun Lakers and their guests are invited. No host bar. Tickets for this spooky event are only $12 pp. Purchase your tickets in the Main Clubhouse Lobby on Thurs., Oct. 22 (2 - 4 pm), Fri., Oct. 23 (11 am - 1 pm), Mon., Oct. 26 (11 am -1 pm), and Tues., Oct. 27 (2 - 4 pm). October Art Class – Coachella Valley watercolor/collage artist Connie Zane will be the guest instructor during the Monday Morning Art Classes on Oct. 5, 12, 19 and 26. October General Meeting – Quilt artist Christina Smithburg will demonstrate four techniques at the Art League General Meeting on Sun., Oct. 18, at 2 pm in the South Clubhouse. 1) Fun with silk scarves and permanent markers. 2) Whole cloth designs with watercolor pencils or acrylic paints. 3) Acrylic paints with stamps and stencils on fabrics and paper. 4) Bouquet with fused fabrics and acrylic paints. All Sun Lakers and guests are welcome to attend Christina's demonstration. The winners of the mini-show at the August General Meeting were as follows: 1st and Best of Show, Leon Fikse; 2nd, Ed Brennan; 3rd, June Kessen. Don't miss the Friendship Club on Sun., Oct. 11, for a fabulous show, "Timeless Melodies of the Great Bass- Baritones," featuring the velvety voice of Steve Teague. Audiences from coast to coast have thrilled to the versatility of this handsome, David Copperfield look-a-like. With his exuberant, masculine voice and overwhelming stage presence, Teague is reminiscent of the classic baritones like Howard Keel and Robert Goulet. His dynamic vocal style developed through principal roles in theater productions all over the country including everybody's favorites, Evita, Pirates of Penzance, Showboat, Man of La Mancha, Camelot, and Oklahoma. Teague gained acclaim by winning California Vocalist of the Metropolitan Opera Finals, adding many operas to his repertoire. He has sung Mephistopheles in Faust, Jupiter in Orpheus and the Underworld, Banco in MacBeth, Escamillo in Carmen and Colline in La Boheme. His international following has grown with extensive work on major cruise lines. He's headlined around the world for over a decade, performing for Oceania, Regent, Crystal, Silverseas, Celebrity, NCL, Seabourn, Cunard, and Holland America, thus making him one of the most sought after vocalists on the high seas. Opening the show will be Derrick Cameron, a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, producer, and recording artist. The versatile Cameron has opened for many acts on TV and cruise ships, and has been on The Tonight Show, performing his truth- based style sense of humor. Audiences easily relate to his humorous take on life's experiences. Tickets are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, and the show begins at 7 pm.
