12 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2015 Neighborly Notes By Bobbie Eckel DAYliGht sAvinGs timE Early reminder for everyone: Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 1. Be ready to set your clocks back an hour! oPErAtion rEcoGnition There is great news for current residents of Riverside County whose high school education was interrupted by military service in World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War. A program called Operation Recognition which is jointly sponsored by the Riverside County Board of Education and the Riverside County Department of Veterans' Services allows qualified veterans to receive their high school diplomas. The 2015 Operation Recognition ceremony will be held on Tuesday., Nov. 10, at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center. In order to be recognized at the ceremony, completed application forms and supporting documentation must be received by 5 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Application forms are available online at www. rcoe.us/operation recognition.com or can be requested by phone by contacting Tracy Case at (951) 826-6570. Education Code Section 51440 authorizes granting of the retroactive high school diplomas. Section 51430 authorizes retroactive granting of diplomas to Japanese-American citizens who were prevented from graduating from their home town high school by internment during World War II. summit Pool hours Starting Oct.1, the Summit pool hours will revert back to pre-Memorial Day times of 7 am to 7 pm. If your group or club is planning on making time changes in October, please remember to fill out a Meeting Change Request the month prior to your change date. The year is going quickly. The holidays are just around the corner and we will all get busier than usual. GuEst list Speaking of holidays, be sure that your list of guests with the Potrero gatehouse is up to date. The lines can get very long if the gatekeeper needs to verify a lot of guests who are not listed in their computer. hoA GArAGE sAlE Hopefully, we have all cleaned out our garages for the HOA Garage sale on Oct. 3. Because of the increased traffic during Garage Sale Day, it might be a good idea for dog walkers to take their pets out before 8 am. My furry friends were not pleased with the extra cars at the last sale – particularly because so many of them were simply driving around looking for sales or house numbers – and not paying too much attention to pedestrians. (With the heat we are having this summer, walking early in the day is more comfortable, too!) lGBt PriDE FEstivAl The 2015 Greater Palm Springs LGBT Pride Festival is being held in Palm Springs on Nov. 7 and 8. A group of Four Seasons residents and your Rainbow Group would like to invite you to go and enjoy it as well. The free Festival is held on both days at the intersection of Palm Canyon Drive and Amado; the parade is on Sunday at the same location. If you are interested and would like more details, please see pspride.org for Festival information, parade route and spectator advice. WintEr Wish Start thinking about the Winter Wish Program which begins Nov. 1. This is Four Seasons Way to help the community with gifts for needy children in Beaumont. Watch for the article in the November Breeze about this special cause. thouGhts From mAxinE "Sometimes late at night I dig a hole in the backyard to keep the nosey neighbor's guessing." And from the strange signs office department: "After tea break, staff should empty the teapot and stand upside down on the draining board."
