Non-potable water is now in our purple pipes. Beaumont Cherry Valley Water District has begun to add to our irrigation lines underground water from the Beaumont Basin that no longer meets the new State Water Resources Control Board standards. This water is higher in Chromium content than the new standard. We previously used this water as potable, but are now its use is restricted. Since the purple pipes now contain both non-potable and potable water, they are considered non-potable. As such, this water is exempt from the state water rationing regulations. Association landscapers will now relax the irrigation days and times in place since last fall. This applies to common areas, Front yard Cost Center homes and the Springdale homes. Homes not in these cost centers are still under the potable water restrictions. Water in our fountains and ponds is still potable. Our irrigation water consumption for August was the same as for July. For the year we are down 30 percent from 2014 and 20 percent from 2013. We are guardedly increasing consumption with non-potable water as needed but are still significantly below our historical norm. As the days start to cool, watering will be done in the daytime. There are openings for new members on the Landscape Committee and we need help to meet these challenges and opportunities. It only does business with checks. The office does not have the equipment for credit cards, and their use involves service fees the HOA would rather spend on services to residents. Also, having cash in the office raises the possibility of losses. "Other associations have had problems with money going missing," said General Manager Jeri Mupo. ~ Leighton McLaughlin, for the committee Reserving locations in the pool area is not allowed. Residents have gone to the Lodge Pool early in the day and placed towels or other gear on tables and chairs to ensure they have a choice spot when they come back to swim later. Only those actively using the pool can keep their places while they are swimming. Also, scheduled classes have priority over other pool users. While classes are in session, no other swimmers are allowed in the pool. Residents are urged to wait until classes are over or go to the Summit Pool to swim. More irrigation should help the trees at Four Seasons Social Committee Halloween will be soon upon us and already the "Blowmont" wind is rustling the changing colored leaves and creating a spookier feeling in the air. Shadows are becoming more pronounced as the summer nights fade, giving way to eerie images which challenge the imagination to be reasonable and rational in this gated resort community. This year the 31st lands on a Saturday, and that will be the day that rumors of ghosts, goblins and gargoyles entering the community turn into reality. The place where this creepy yet thrilling event takes place is in the Lodge Ballroom at 5 pm. Don't miss this supernaturally good time. Come prepared for weird surprises, dancing, a delicious dinner and a costume competition. If you'd like to try your hand at pumpkin carving, we'd love to invite you to come to the Lodge desk to pick out a pumpkin to carve, which will then be used as one of the centerpieces on the dinner tables. Your returned pumpkin masterpiece (due back at the front desk on Friday the 30th) will then be judged for pumpkin prizes. Tickets to attend this ghostly gala are available now at the Lodge front desk until Saturday, Oct. 24. The ticket price is only $20 per person. Come if you dare! ~ Melody Seewoster
