8 OUR YUCAIPA | OCTOBER 2015 By Natalie Palmer There will be hot Hollywood style at Yucaipa High School Oct. 22-24 when the school welcomes in their new royalty and welcomes back alumni for homecoming 2015. This year's Hollywood theme will be a mixture of old 1950's Hollywood glamour and elements of the town's new age as students walk the red carpet, attend award shows, and even pose for paparazzi. This year's Grand Marshall is YHS Science teacher Tammy Richter (photo below with her husband Brian). Richter was chosen through student nominations and popular vote. "She was chosen because she goes above and beyond the call of duty in her position," said Associated Student Body President Max Kiss. "She really reaches out to students to make sure their time spent at Yucaipa High School is as fulfilling as it should be." Homecoming kicks off Thursday evening, Oct. 22 with the bon fire rally where the freshman, sophomore and junior class court will be presented. The nominees for the senior class king will also be presented and the king crowned. The homecoming football game is set for Friday night, with YHS playing AB Miller. At half time the homecoming court ceremony will be in full swing, and with Hollywood style. The class princes and princesses will promenade with their parents and the homecoming queen will be announced and will join her king onstage. The community is welcome to the bon fire rally and football game to help support the high school. "This year's homecoming will have a lot of never before seen aspects that really play into our theme," said Kiss. "The special effects and extra work put in by the ASB will hopefully make people believe they are in the middle of Hollywood. We hope to have as many returning YHS students and local community members attend as possible." Homecoming 2015 will wrap up with the formal dance on Saturday night, Oct. 24 in the high school quad. The dance will have Hollywood flair with the Hollywood sign projected on the side of the school and a movie marquee with the homecoming court's names in lights. Other glitzy Hollywood effects are planned to make it a night to remember.
