There are many local charities, organizations, civic groups and schools and that would value a few hours a month of your time. • Mentor Someone - Mentors provide useful insight and help guide people along their career paths. A big title or a fancy office is not required, you just have to be comfortable enough to share your experiences and knowledge. • Share A Skill - Are you a wiz at creating spread sheets or using software or social media? I personally am technology challenged. Offer a class. Whatever your skill teach others so they may become successful in their careers. Many cities and towns offer classes and teaching opportunities through their community services division. • Use Your Hobby Or Talent To Help Others - Knit hats and blankets for newborns. Make dinner for a neighbor or help an elderly neighbor with repairs around the house. Whatever it is, let your skills help improve someone's day or even their life. • Write A Note To Someone - It doesn't matter who you write the note to; the only requirement is that it's genuine. Say hello to a past client, write an encouraging note to your niece who's in her first year of college or even a note to a former teacher who made a difference in your life. Not only will it boost the spirit of the person who receives it, it may encourage them to pay it forward. Area Chambers of Commerce were well represented at the Rotary Club's golf tournament held on Sept. 11 at the Calimesa Country Club. Yucaipa Chamber president Amy Minjares and Beaumont's Chamber president Sheri Bogh were part of a team that golfed for a cause. The Rotary Club raised money for local service projects as well as for local police and firefighter memorial funds. The golf tournament was a huge success with the team winning a trophy for being the "Most Fun" aka "Losers.".
