| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2015 | 41 Sun Lakers & Friends This article is going to press before we begin our league on Oct. 20, so there is little to report. I hope you are all enjoying the bowling and the time spent with one another. Next month we will have news of all your great scores and accomplishments. If you are new to bowling or need a tune up on your equipment, see Norris Runnels at the pro-shop at Canyon Lanes in Morongo. He can get you squared away with a new ball, shoes and a bag at a bargain price. He is also available for instruction. Happy Bowling! Home Again Bowling We are into the early weeks of the 32 week league season. Our officers are KEN ELSING, President, LOUISE DEAL, Vice President and LIL MC LEAN, Secretary. We have 11 teams, which means that we have to bowl against a "vacant team!" You would be surprised at the number of times a bowling team can fail to bowl within 40 pins of their average. Been there, done that. We are currently using book averages with Bob McLean at 201, high for men and Dianne Everley, high for women at 155. This will change as we complete 21 games. Some new faces are scoring some great games and the competition will be hot with Frank Mashburn rolling a 672 series with a 245 high game! Bob McLean with a 236 high game and a 638 series is close behind. Women's high scratch games by Louise Deal 188, Lil McLean 188, and Micki Elsing 176 led the way. Top scratch series were Micki Elsing 498, Sue Sloan 442 and Linda Costell 429. Frank Mashburn added a great 267 game on the 3rd week. We are lucky to be able to enjoy the friendly competition and are thrilled with the high scores and the hard spare conversions that are rolled in league. We all try to do our best with many physical handicaps that limit our success. Keep on rolling and give it your best. Let the good times roll! For information about joining this league contact Lil McLean at 769-2042.
