With the holidays right around the corner, what better way to shop for the special people in your life than taking a short trip to your Main Clubhouse Ballroom? Starting at 9 am on Nov. 6 come down and check out all the unique gifts and crafts that have been made by your fellow Sun Lakes residents. There is something for everyone and everything has been made with love. Admission is free and door prizes will be given away each day. Vendor sign-ups started Oct. 5. Craft Show Sat., Nov. 14, 9:30 – 11:30 am. Please join us for our 4th Annual Veterans Walk to honor all who have served for our country. This walk will be held inside Sun Lakes and all the proceeds from this event will be going to the local VFW Post 233. Last year we raised over $9,000 and our goal this year is to surpass that. It will consist of a two mile walk around Country Club Drive to Riviera, and back up Country Club Drive to the Main Clubhouse. If you don't feel you can do the two miles, there are turn back increments at half a mile, one mile and 1.5 miles so there is a walk for everyone. Registration forms can be picked up at the Recreation Desk. The cost is $20 pp (checks only) and includes a goodie bag with an event T-shirt, continental breakfast after the walk and an opportunity to listen to a couple of decorated veterans. For any resident unable to walk, you can still participate by entering your golf cart into the event. We ask that the carts be decorated with a U.S. Flag, a Service Flag, or a Wounded Warrior Flag to support the event. Please note, golf cart use is for disabled residents ONLY. If you know anyone who would like to be a sponsor for this event, please have them contact Jason at 769-6651. Continental Breakfast is for participants only. Please carpool or use your golf cart to come up to the starting line. VETERANS WALK SCHEDULE 9:30 am: Presentation of Colors and National Anthem 9:40 am: START OF THE WALK 10 – 10:30 am: Continental Breakfast 11 am: Veteran Speakers 11:30 am: Closing Remarks ANNUAL VETERANS WALK Thurs., Nov. 17, 3 - 4 pm, on the Veranda. Keeping with tradition, since Thanksgiving is fast approaching, this month we will be serving a slice of delicious pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream and your choice of coffee or tea for only $3. This is a great way to spend a gorgeous fall afternoon with your neighbors. Slice of Pie Social Sun., Nov. 29 at 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Doors open at 2 pm. $5pp. The year is 1972 and the Sonny and Cher Show is a hit on millions of televisions across the U.S. and around the world. What would happen if Sonny just could not make it to the studio? The Sammy and Cher Show. Yes you read it correctly! Two classic entertainers never seen together are now on the stage with a musical comedy tribute packing theaters across the country. What would this unique combination have created? Witness the classic musical numbers of each artist's long career as well as the downright tongue in cheek humor so well known by each of these legendary characters in their respective show biz careers. The unbelievable talents of impersonators Richard Beatty and Shar Wilson bring to life Sammy Davis Jr. and Cher together for a show that may have been thought about but never was seen. Now you can witness this classic and unusual combination in "The Sammy and Cher Show" live on stage. Tickets are on sale now so hurry down and get yours today! Now that we are into fall and the cooler weather is upon us, remember that even though the Jacuzzis are still being heated, the Main Clubhouse and North Clubhouse pools are not heated during the cooler months. With that said, the South Clubhouse pool will see a lot more activity with Aqua Volleyball and Aqua Aerobics moving back in. With the extra classes moving to the South Clubhouse pool, please remember pool etiquette and please do not interrupt the class that is in progress.
