20 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2015 | FALL BOOK FAIR… ONE DAY ONLY! The upcoming Book Fair will coincide with the Sun Lakes Fall Craft Fair and will be a one day sale. It will open for business on Sat., Nov. 7 from 9 am to 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Library. After attending the craft fair, stop by the Main Clubhouse Library and show your support by buying one or more of your favorite books. All proceeds from the sale will be used to buy new books for your reading pleasure. Also, don't forget to buy a book and get a free cookie! Many of you enjoy reading a good book. A good book can transport you to another world where anything you imagine can come true. A reader can escape into another time, or another place where you can completely relax and forget about any day to day problems. At Sun Lakes we have four separate libraries that offer a wide variety of subject matter just waiting for you. These libraries are maintained by a group of volunteers who daily empty the return book bins and file the returns back onto the shelves ready for you to borrow. Behind the scenes there is a group of Sun Lakes' residents who have volunteered to serve on the Library Advisory Committee. This group helps maintain the libraries moving forward with fully stocked shelves and a constant replenishment with new editions including the new selection of Large Print Books. The Library Committee members get together monthly to plan for and implement library improvements. They get together to "cull" the book shelves to make room for new editions to be filed. They move books dropped off at the wrong library back and forth. They are responsible to conduct three annual book sales where older and damaged books are sold to make money for new acquisitions. In addition, they set-up new sections within the libraries for such items as large print books, a children's section and a classics section.
