| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2015 |29 Cruzin' Cronies Is a congenial group of classic car enthusiasts here in Sun Lakes. We meet at 8:30 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room on the first Saturday of each month, followed by breakfast at a local restaurant. Last month, we had a "Poker Run," ending up at the Tukwet Country Club for a lovely meal. November's meeting will be a car show at Bob's Big Boy in Calimesa, followed by breakfast, on Sat., Nov. 7. We have no meeting in December. We charge no membership fees. Just come and enjoy the cars, outings, and friendships. Call Sandra Glickman at 267-3187 for more information. **YOU DON'T HAVE TO OWN A CLASSIC CAR TO JOIN** Grand prize winner ($50) of the poker run was Richard Kramer, with Ron Glickman in second place ($25). Worst hand holder was Ken Brass, who took home a crying towel that read, "I'm not old, I'm vintage!" Many thanks to Leonard and Betty Menke, organizers of the event. The car club's October outing, organized by Ron and Sandra Glickman, was a car show at the Edward Dean Museum. Autumn is here and now the holiday festivities are right around the corner; but more on that later. Those of us who turned out for the Oktoberfest had a lively evening, with music, singing and dancing by our enthusiastic guest, Erika, who was an absolute delight. This was followed by our own special brand of card bingo hosted by Ellie and Gerry Fawcett. Thanks to all the amazing Paisano worker bees, with Jeannette as their Queen bee, who decorate and organize our affairs. Hopefully by now everyone has signed up for the November tribute to our veterans and all members of the armed forces. The deadline for signing up is/was Fri., Oct. 30. Our menu for this month will be everyone's old time favorite dishes including a hearty minestrone soup, accompanied by turkey with all the trimmings, Waldorf salad, rolls, and a pumpkin dessert. Let's all raise our voices and our glasses to those men and women who work tirelessly to serve and protect our country. A great sing-a-long will be lead by DJ Blast and his helpers, Rosie and Barb. The date is Fri., Nov. 6 at the South Clubhouse starting at 5:30 pm. Coffee and water will be served, or you may BYOB. Please contact Provi at 845-1601 for available seating. Checks for $13 may be dropped off at 630 Twin Hills. Back to the festivities of December, which includes the Paisano Christmas/Holiday Party, on Fri., Dec. 4 at the South Clubhouse. Doors open at 5:30 pm. This year will be another gathering as successful as last year. Please remember we will be limited to 80 participants, MEMBERS ONLY, which will be on a first come, first serve basis. Our proposed menu is shrimp cocktail, antipasto for each table, prime rib and sliced ham, with roasted fingerling potatoes and green beans almadine. Champagne will also be served. The cost will be $22 pp. The entertainers are Tin Man's Heart, a delightful couple, who recently moved to Sun Lakes. Contact Provi at 845-1601 or drop off checks at soon as possible for the dinner. Judy will take new membership checks at 5336 Breckenridge Ave. Need more information regarding the Paisano Club? Call Judy Garthwaite, President, 797- 3130, who would enjoy telling you about this wonderful group. The Paisano Club where everyone is welcome and all are considered friends! Paisano Club Upcoming schedule: Sept. 24 - Oct. 2: Rally to Ruidoso, New Mexico for 8 nights hosted by Betty & Dale Ferber (259-3370). This is not part of the Ruidoso Rally but it is truly a "Bucket List" event. Make your reservations for this ASAP at: balloonfiesta.com. Oct. 21: General meeting/pizza party with new board members being announced. If you would like to enjoy the company of good friends and fun times in some beautiful settings, this is the club for you.
