| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | November 2015 | 26 Bocce Bocce started with their annual Bocce barbecue on Sept. 27 to kick off the 2015 Bocce Games. Everyone enjoyed delicious hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings and the food was prepared by our annual Bocce chefs. A big thank you for a very well prepared barbecue. Now we look forward to playing our first game on Sun., Oct. 4 with 21 teams signed up for this year. The courts are ready, Orville Ellingworth has all the games scheduled for this season and now we wait. Before I finished sending this article in on time to meet the time schedule, something happened. On Sun. Oct. 4, it rained cancelling the Bocce Games. I know everyone was disappointed and to be quite honest, I thought it would bypass just like the last forecast some weeks ago. Boy was that frustrating, it seems that when Bocce plans their games, it rains. I think the Bocce Club should also forecast the weather for our community. We would be more accurate. This means that Oct. 11 will be our first game of the season. We will probably not make this one up since the games take us pretty close to the end of the year right into December. A big thank you to all the players for being understanding, but again this is nothing new to the players. We seem to do it every season. For information contact Ross Brunetto at 926-8295. Shuffleboard The Shuffleboard Club is doing pretty good this year. We had some new players but we have many returning players, from the last years. This year the club goes into the ninth season and we seem to hold our ground as far as how many continue to play. I have to tell you, except for one very hot day, it has been very nice weather with blue skys, a mild breeze, our fantastic hills, and company from many players from around our great community. If you have never signed up for Shuffleboard, you are missing a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and friends and to enjoy the outdoors. Our scenery is relaxing for those who play, and we all talk about how great it is to be outside doing something that anyone can play. We also enjoy going indoors once in a while to join the Bocce Club for one of their pot lucks. On Oct. 25 we will again join them for a Mexican Fiesta This theme brings a variety of great food usually four tables long. Sometimes we don't have enough room for everyone's dish but we seem to fit it in somehow. Thank you to all the players, who help me and Sue Marlarkey keep things flowing easy. It can be a challenge to schedule 90 people with only six Shuffleboard courts. We know some of you play on a court twice in a row, but sometimes to get things to work out we have to. Let's hope this club can escape the rain unlike the Bocce Club and play all games scheduled for this year. For information contact Ross Brunetto at 926-8295. L-R: Chefs Dave Scott, John O'Connor, Van Eychaner, Ernie Marsicano, Frank Fiumara, and hidden in the back, Board Member and Bocce Chef Tony Criscenti.
