FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2015 49 Our tournaments with Hemet, known as "travelling tournaments," will now be on the first and third Mondays of each month. The first Monday of the month we travel to Hemet, and the third Monday Hemet comes here. The Billiards Room is reserved for club use even when we have away games so that club members may warm up prior to leaving and those 8-Ball Club members not participating in travel can still practice here at home on that first Monday. Team practices are from 6:30 until 9 pm on the other two Mondays, then every Wednesday and every Friday. The In-house 8-Ball tournament is on the second Wednesday of every month at 7 pm sharp. In-house 9 Ball tournament is on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 pm sharp. Monthly 8-Ball Club business meetings are still on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm; as usual the team practice that night will pause for the meeting, then commence at the conclusion. The night of the business meetings, on even numbered months, February, April, June, August, October, December, we collect plastic/glass bottles and aluminum cans to support club expenses. Our standing rule concerning tournament participation is this: to qualify for any tournament you must have practiced with the team at least one day in the week leading up to that tournament. This rule was established to prevent those players who are not a present part of the team from showing up on tournament day expecting to play when we may not have seen them at all for weeks or months. In the week prior to a travelling tournament, there are practice sign up sheets and a travelling tournament sign up sheet posted on the bulletin board that we are requested to use in order to qualify. Check the 8-Ball Club message board in the Billiards Room for any changes of dates or locations. In tournament action this month Del Lyles Sr. is again in the news, placing second on the 8-Ball in-house and first place on the 9-Ball in-house tournament. Way to go Del. Dewey Allen took the 8 Ball, and in 9 Ball Larry Rice was undefeated going into the finals. Del coming up from the losers column beat Larry twice to secure the monthly championship. During the 9-Ball Tournament we make note with pride that some of our female club members had a noteworthy circumstance. When the field of players was whittled down to five players, three of those players were women. Take a bow, Thanh Harrah, third place, Jone Babin, fourth place and Mary Ann Diehl, fifth place.
