34 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2015 Please join the Book Club at 9:30 am on Tuesday, Nov.10 when we will discuss Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. The author wrote this novel before the Pulitzer Prize winner, To Kill a Mockingbird, but it was not published until this year. Many consider it the first draft of the more famous book. The setting is the same small southern town of Maycomb, Alabama, but in 1950. Scout is now 26 year-old Jean Louise Finch. She comes home from New York City to visit her elderly father, Atticus. To Kill a Mockingbird illustrates a child's view of her father and Maycomb. Go Set a Watchman expresses the opinions of a New York adult returning to her small home town after many years. December's Book Club selection is Boston Girl by Anita Diamant. All residents are welcome at all our meetings, even if they haven't read the books under discussion. For further information, please contact Doreen Sanders at (951) 769-1913. ~ Mary Lou Keating Book Club At the beginning of the Writers' Club meeting on Oct. 6, Sharon Bond told us about her recently deceased husband Phil who was a friend and a generous contributor at the Writers' Club. In fact, Phil and Sharon decided to live in the Four Seasons because there was a Writers' Club. All the members are going to miss him greatly. Do you remember David and Kathy Barnett? They had been members of the club since the beginning. But the time came for them to move to Texas and be near their son. Kathy had a brother who wrote many humorous poems for fun. She shared many with Joseph who read two of them at the meeting. They were fun and perhaps will be in print some day. The general emphasis for the coming year will be, first, on planning month by month, setting a goal and trying to reach it and, second, on contributing through our writings to a legacy of knowledge and joy for our family, in its full extension of location and time. In order to know more about our ambitions and the help you can receive from the Writers' Club, please attend the next meeting at the Lodge on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 1:30 pm. ~ Joseph Laurin Writers' Club Best Buy will join us on Nov. 10 at 10:30 am in the Lodge Ballroom, with an array of new computer and technology products. They will also talk about the bargains that will be for sale on Black Friday, Nov. 27. In addition, Edgar Sanchez, the Warner Cable representative from Best Buy, will explain the benefits and money saving advantages for Four Seasons owners and renters offered by Warner Cable. This, as with all presentations, is free. If you want to be reminded of future programs, sign up when you come into the Ballroom on Nov. 10. ~ Phil Jaffe Computer Technology 5% Military Discount (former & current members) Ask for the Jarhead! 909-965-8404 Since 1985 Licensed & Insured DON'S TREE SERVICE • Ornamental Beautification of Trees • Preventative Maintenance from Wind Destruction • Correct Pruning, Trimming Skills • Tree Removals, Stump Grinding • Tree Planting/Transplanting
