FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | NOVEMBER 2015 39
Counter Culture Cinema
I know this time of year is when all the best movies are
released, but if you want to catch up on some great ones that
might have passed you by, come to our November screenings:
Our first November screening,
on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 pm, is the
film I'll See You In My Dreams (USA
2015, 92 minutes, English). Here is
a brief description from IMDB.com:
"In this vibrant, funny and heartfelt
film, a widow and former songstress
discovers that life can begin anew at
any age. With the support of three
loyal girlfriends (June Squibb, Rhea
Perlman, and Mary Kay Place), Carol
(Blythe Danner) decides to embrace
the world, embarking on an unlikely
friendship with her pool maintenance man (Martin Starr),
pursuing a new love interest (Sam Elliott), and reconnecting
with her daughter (Malin Akerman)."
Our second November screening, on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 6 pm, is
the film Greedy Lying Bastards (USA 2012, 90 minutes, English).
Here is a brief description from IMDB.com: "Melting sea ice,
glacier loss and rising sea levels. Severe droughts and wildfires.
Increasingly severe tornadoes,
hurricanes, and flooding. Record
heat waves. Climate change is no
longer a prediction for the future,
but a startling reality of today.
Yet, as evidence of our changing
climate mounts and the scientific
consensus proves human causation,
there continues to be little political
action to thwart the warming of
our planet. Greedy Lying Bastards
investigates the reason behind stalled efforts to tackle climate
change despite consensus in the scientific community that it is
not only a reality but also a growing problem placing us on the
brink of disaster."
All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about
the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge theatre has
very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings,
come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films
announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions
about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend
a film, please email Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@gmail.com.
