It's hard to believe that we are wishing everyone at Four Seasons a joyous Holiday Season already! So much is offered at Four Seasons in December and we become so busy. Remember, you will need quiet time to fully enjoy this season so step into this beautiful room, exhale, and grab a book or magazine. Our rules, are simply guidelines for us to display as many books and magazines as possible. The committee determined the year 2004 as the cut-off date for our hardbound books to be displayed on the shelves. Prolific authors like Patterson, Cussler and Nora Roberts seem to write a book a month! A cut-off date allows us room to display new authors for your enjoyment. You can donate your older hardbound books directly to the Hemet library or we will take them downtown. If possible, don't miss the opportunity to peruse that beautiful building, it's fantastic. Our paperback selection displays the years 2011-2015. Four years keeps the cabinet full for you unless we have someone that removes all of an author's books. Actually that happens frequently. Perhaps as you read one of the series you could return it for others. We want to thank a resident for donating some National Geographic magazines for all to read. We had a wonderful collection of them and someone removed them. They were really missed. They are timeless and a joy to read. We would welcome magazines from residents after they read them. I've heard several ladies say they just toss them when they are done reading. We have a great place for them, a beautiful magazine rack. Don't forget to put your Four Seasons library on your Christmas list. Buy that new book, read it and run it to the Lodge! Last year we were presented with a subscription to Redbook magazine. If there is a magazine you don't see there that you enjoy, you could "gift" the magazine to our library. Holidays are family times. Come check out a movie at the front desk. Think about grabbing an audio book for those hours of prepping food. And, always, take time to read. Committee member Betty Crase read A Fool's Gold Christmas by Susan Mallery If you enjoy reading romance novels with strong, dynamic characters and plots, check out some of the paperbacks by Susan Mallery. She has written a series of books set in the present-day, fictitious California community of Fool's Gold, nestled in the lovely Sierra Nevada Mountains. The community is known for its welcoming attitude and many unique festivals held throughout the year. Fool's Gold also claims the longest-serving mayor in the state. Mayor Marsha seems to know everyone and everything happening in her town, somehow managing to manipulate incoming residents into getting involved in the community becoming better and happier people in the process. And they find the loves of their lives along the way! With the approach of the holiday season, you might want to begin with A Fool's Gold Christmas. Evie Stryker, a dancer and professional cheerleader, has been brought home to Fool's Gold by her estranged family to recuperate after an injury and promptly finds herself in charge of the local dance studio and the entertainment for the beloved Christmas festival. The dance studio is on the second floor above the law office of her brother. His law partner, Dante Jefferson, is going crazy with the constant pounding of little girls' dancing feet overhead. When Dante confronts Evie, the fireworks begin. Enjoy! Library Committee | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2015 | 14
