13 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2015 | Facilities Committee As we are enjoying the holiday season and all the festive activities that are going on, we hope you enjoy the outdoor lights that the committee again recommended to the Board to lease. This lease allows professionals to set up these lights and allows our volunteers to concentrate on the inside of the Lodge area, and we do not have to store the lights after the season is over. New items that you may not see, but that are very important, are the new cameras monitoring various areas in the Lodge facilities. This allows the staff to be able to make sure everything is secure while still being able to man the front desk. Another new item that also supports the staffing at the front desk is coming in the way of remote wireless thermostat control. When an area of the Lodge or spa building is getting too hot or cold (due to increased or decreased activity) the thermostats will be able to be reset from the front desk. Another new item out of view is the gate controller motor on the World Cup Gate. This new motor, which is being supplied at no cost by the vendor for long term investigation, should be able to more easily open and close these heavy gates. As a note, these gates have a safety switch much like the one on your garage door so that they will not close if an object is in the way. However, if the sensor is out of line, the gate will not close, and this happened in early November. If you notice this happening, please call Roving Patrol, so the gate vendor can be contacted. Finally, our new pool maintenance vendor (1 Stop Pool Pros) should be on board very soon. If you have any questions or problems with the Pool Maintenance, please fill out a resident communication form, and the committee will be sure to review it and take any appropriate action. These men and women on the trucks, Emergency Medical Technicians and administrative / dispatcher support staff. These are folks dedicated to providing top quality fire fighting services to us, citizens of Hemet. They do a great job and from my perspective, we were wise in demonstrating our support this last year to keeping LOCAL this important public safety service! I had the opportunity to listen to the remarks that Chief Scott Brown made at a recent Chamber of Commerce event. What I heard spoke of commitment to our city, leadership and technical knowhow. The chief noted that the department has achieved high performance and response times while performing at one of the lowest cost per- capita in Riverside County. Thanks to the strong support of Hemet City Council members and an improving city budget, the department is looking to fill some 10 fire fighting open positions over the next few years. This to address both residential and commercial upcoming expansions and to make even better, department performance. The department works with a plan. This is a result of 27 recommendations identified within the consultant study report delivered earlier this year and also the experiences of Chief Brown who when taking the Hemet Department challenges, started out by asking "what are we not doing?" The Chief, Shaun Murphy, President of the Hemet Fire Fighters Association and the department have three key objectives. They are: performing safely, maintain operational readiness and meeting their mission. Chief Brown concluded his remarks by pointing to the cell phone on his hip, saying it's surgically embedded but really demonstrating his wanting to hear from the some 80K "Hemet fire chiefs." Call him with your thoughts, needs and suggestions. His cell telephone number is (951) 229-5862. Oh, and one more thing that I keep hearing at many public meetings and that is the slogan: "Hemet's Back!" Just a note on the strong two way communication that took place at our very well attended Town hall Meeting, Oct. 8 in the Ballroom. Much sharing of ideas and needs. Our elected officials want to hear from us and of course we want and need to gain perspective on the City's issues and direction over the next few years. That happened! Mayor Krupa after the meeting said "she was well pleased with the meeting interaction and would love to do this twice a year with Four Seasons folks." Wow!
